OT sort of: Guy I would have taken at 5 plays tonight

Obviously I'm really happy with the team, but just for the hell of it, who would you all have taken if we'd kept the 5th pick? I'd have grabbed Sideshow Bob (Noah).

I would have probably taken Brandan Wright, but I liked Corey Brewer, too.

From what I've seen, he looks like he would have been the best complement to Big Al, if we didn't make either deal. Yi might've been best overall, but Noah probably would have made things easiest for Al on defense. Oh well, we have Ray and KG now.

Noah or Brewer. Both are skilled and high quality character guys.

I was all about taking Jeff Green at 5, and he still wouldn't have been a bad pick there, IMO.

If would have taken Brewer. He'll never be an offensive force but he will learn it and I love his defense.

I would have taken Yi or Thornton.

I was also on the Yi, then Noah, bandwagon. LOVED Stuckey, but not at 5.

i was on the Yi wagon, but only after it was clear Horford wouldn't be around

I'd be leaning towards Thad Young. Yi would be my second choice - very solid upside. Thornton's alright but its tough to judge whether he'd fit in on a good team and he was a 4 year guy that lacks upside others have. Noah's interesting, but lacks bulk for a big guy and it remains to be seen exactly what his game will become.

btw Thad Young is 2 years outta high school, was said to have tremendous potential but was supposedly a long term project. Yet, he's getting decent minutes for a rookie, is posting a very respectable PER of 18.5, and posts the best +/- of anyone on the Sixers by a longshot (and is arguably playing out of position @ PF). I think he's a no brainer @ #5 in hindsight.

Even though I didn't thought about taking him with the 5th pick last year but if we had to pick I would probably pick Thornton.

I was on the Brewer wagon all the way. He is built to be a shut down defender, and seemed ready to help us take a shot at getting out of the depths of the NBA and into some shining mediocraty. Mediocre in the east = playoff berth.
