Sam Cassell played like a real clown last night.

Did Sam forget he was playing for the Boston Celtics and not the Harlem Globetrotters last night? In five minutes of action, Sam flopped three-to-four times, pulled down Jason Smith and fell on the ground with him (got called for the foul), and then proceeded to argue with the refs each time after getting called for obvious flops.
Look, Sam, I understand you are smart basketball player and love to show off your "bbiq" but for the love of god, you can't be that stupid to think you are going to get a flop call four times in five minutes.
I don't care about the obvious rust that Sam played with last night, but all the theatrics has got to go. It felt like Sam was trying to show off to his teammates how crafty and smart he is. Let it go, Sam. Just play ball. You looked like a clown last night.

Maybe he figured since the refs kept falling for it when Evans and Miller were doing it, he'd give it a try.
BTW, the award for stupidest play of the game was Reggie Evans baiting the refs into a call as time was winding down in the 2nd quarter, then proceeding to miss two free throws horribly and give the Cetlics the ball with 8 seconds left.
If you're the Sixers, what would you rather have?
A.) Andre Igoudala with the ball in his hand and the shot clock turned off holding it for the last shot
B.) Give the Celtics the ball back with plenty of time after Reggie Evans shoots a couple free throws

It's his first game as a Celtic.
Jeez.. Can we let him get used to the offense, and then we can say what we must about him.
Come playoff time this guy will be averaging 10 ppg with 3 apgs

It's his first game in a few weeks and he's playing with a new team.
Give him a break dude.

I know it is his first game back.
Who knew not playing for two weeks makes you fall on your ass every two minutes?
I know Cassell can play, that's not the issue.

I was waiting for this thread to come up after last night. Sam will be fine, period..he played
five whole minutes...what can you really take from that?
If one or two of those weren't foul calls (i.e. the ghost call he got down low on a fast break) and he hit those jumpers would this even be an issue?
Just relax and enjoy what he brings to the team.

If we do that we might as well fire Doc and pickup P. J. Carlesimo from seattle

I'm sure KG would help his old friend choking the coach.

I'm glad someone had the nads to call him out on his "performance". The complaints with the refs were rediculous as were the TO's and his D was about as bad as could be imagined. Really looked the thug out there too. On the plus side, he made "stone cold" Eddie look pretty good by comparison.
At least PJ has the sense to take a grandfatherly approach to his first few stints, not try to overdo it.
I'm not worried, Sam'll find his rhythm with the C's and be ok. If not, he need not be a coaches nightmare as there's some room down there where Scals resided.

That's the thing, I'm not really calling out Cassell for going 0-2 from the field with a couple of turnovers. I know Cassell can ball and he is coming off a two week layoff. Rust was to be expected.
What I was calling Cassell out for was his clown act he put out there last night. All the flops, the pulling down of Jason Smith for no apparent reason (and getting called for a foul in the process), and the constant bitching to the refs after he got called for the well-deserved foul.
Look, I understand Sam is a smart basketball player, but for him to flop four times in five minutes is absolutely MORONIC. The guy really looked like a clown out there last night.

give sam a break, after 2 weeks of not playing and coming off an injury, his timing was off. maybe that's the reason why he didn't get the calls coz he didn't time it properly.

did he really flop 4 to 5 times?
I saw one charge attempt but he arrived to late, that's not a flop.
We've played against Manu, he flops. Honestly I don't remeber any time Sam was put on the ground other then the failed charge attempt.

You know, I've been thinking. We should cut Cassell, and pick up Gerald Green.
Maybe I should make my own thread about this ...

I'm happy to see that most people can't even take this thread seriously. It's ridiculous....
