I must say i miss Tommy's ranting. Having to listen to Greg "I hate my job as a sideline reporter" Dickerson the other nite almost made me mute my tv. Do you think Heinsohn is ok or do you think he just doesnt want to travel due to his age. I mean the guy is 73. And when the time comes who is his replacement .....Donny? If its Dickerson i dont know if i could take it. :x

I believe he stays home to take care of his wife, who has cancer. He drives her to and from treatments and makes sure she's doing ok.

When Tommy quits, Scal should be his replacement. I am not kidding. He is funny, a little bit crazy and he knows basketball. I think it would be fun to listen to him..

Wow thats actually an AWESOME idea.

Donny is fine, but a little awkward, I think scal would be GREAT.

Scal is the type of player who usually make great commentators in every sport. Great players often have too large an ego and relied a lot on natural ability, where guys like Scal had to really learn the fundamentals, and only made it to the pros due to their deep understanding of the sport. Look at Harold Reynolds, a marginal player, but a good commentator. It is the same as coaching, superstars often get the job because of their name (ie Michael Jordan, Thomas, ect), but marginal players like Don Nelson (good for a couple of years never a superstar), Phil Jackson (only average 20+ minuets a game twice), Pat Riley, and Larry Brown were all great coaches. Obviously there are exceptions, but i think superstars get too many opportunities and guys who have everything it takes to be a broadcaster aren't given the chance.

Plus if Scal retires to be a broadcaster the celtics get out of that albatross of a contract. Just offer him him slightly more more money than he is owed as a signing bonus for his broadcaster contract and then when he retires you don't have to pay the luxury tax on what is left.

Long Beach, California, went to college at USC.

Heinsohn was from Jersey, went to college in Worcester at Holy Cross.

I am sorry but Scal would be awful. I dont want to listen to his lisp every game. Not a huge Donny fan either. I hope we bring someone else in. But, I think the network is grooming Donny as Tommys replacement.

As far as Dickerson, I dont get why he is so hated. The guy clearly loves the team. He even demoted himself on Sports tonight so he could become the fulltime sideline reporter. Doesnt seem like a guy who hates his job.

I'd feel much better watching that station if Dickerson and Tanguay were off it.

A guy who has made a few appearances on there and started with TV 3 in Worcester and has worked for NECN is Kevin Shea...this guy knows sports, he is very enthusiastic about whatever it is he is talking about. I'm not saying he should replace Tommy, but he should replace Tanguay , just get that guy off my TV.

Its going to be donny...

Wahlberg!!!

Imagine that... Seriously though, like GregB said, the network is grooming Donny Marshall for Tommy's spot. Which I am fine with.

Scott Pollard for announcer, we'd have no idea whatsoever what's happening, but it'd be funny as hell.

Regarding Donny, maybe it's just me, but I think he takes himself a little too seriously. "THE MARSHALL PLAN" ....C'mon. Duh!

I always thought Pierce would be the best replacement. Life long celtic great and in many interviews, especially on sports tonight, he has said that after he retires he wants to be some sort of broadcaster. Who knows how long Tommy will continue to do color though so maybe waiting for Pierce to retire is a bit of a stretch. Anybody but Donny...

Please no Donny. Please.

I'd be alright with Greg Dickerson. Like it was said before, the guy loves the Celtics. And he doesn't take himself too seriously, (like that tool Tanguay)

Scalabrine is actually from a fairly small town called Enumclaw, Washington. If you are in Tacoma and take the 410 to go around the easterly side of Mt Rainier, Enumclaw is on the way. I have passed through it a few times on the way to Rainier.

NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne is also from Enumclaw. Enumclaw is a neighboring town to Puyallup, Washington; home to MLB'er Jon Lester, NFL alums Billy Joe Hobert, Dane Looker and Brock and Damon Huard.

I don't mind Donny Marshall but I get irritated when he verbally felates any and all Connecticut alum.
