KG picks Paul as the MVP this season and one of the reasons he is here.

I knew I liked that KG guy, as I do just about anyone who agrees with me.

If any Celtic gets it, it's gonna be KG because of the way he's transformed the defense which make the Celtics the best team in the league

Our new assistant coach really helped with the defense, I'd say actually.

I could go with either. Very hard to decide what makes a team better. Pure stats I think Pierce is the winner. Otherwise KG has helped change the team defensively and offensively

Unfortunately - I doubt either will have a chance...

I am thinking it will be Kobe who has had a far more significant individual impact and will earn MVP

Don't take that too literally.

All it means sincerely is that KG thinks Pierce is ONE of the most deserving guys in the league for the MVP title.

I also have not entirely pleasant flashbacks to when Shaq pushed Kobe for MVP and even wrote same on his sneakers.

That said -- KG is right to be highly complementary of Pierce, and Pierce deserves great credit for, yes, altering his game pretty instantly to fit the new mix of personnel.

What kind of impact did Kobe have? The Lakers were a good team since the beginning of the season (when they finally landed a PG in Derek Fisher) and have gotten stronger since the Gasol trade. As a matter of fact, Kobe isn't doing anything different this year.

I don't understand why he deserves the MVP.

Not trying to be biased, but I think both KG and Pierce deserve some consideration. Thing is though, neither will be in the top 3 for voting. You will see Kobe, Lebron, maybe even T-Mac if the rockets keep rolling.

This is perhaps the most overrated concept of the season. Not to dismiss what Thibodeau has done he has done a nice job, but people need to get a grip on what the impact of any coach can have on one complete side of the ball.

Beyond pointing to the obvious fact that the Rockets who were 3rd in the NBA defensively last season, are better this season even though Rick Adelman is their coach, while a fine coach not one known for his defensive emphasis. The Rockets have good defensive players, just like the Celtics. Coach Tom would not have made a damn bit of difference on this team's defense last season because we didn't have the players.

are you trying to say the Lakers are good because of....Derek Fisher?!?

No doubt Fisher improved the team but Kobe is the reason they are one of the best in the West. Even before they got Gasol and before Bynum went down they were on top of the West.

MVP will be Kobe, LBJ, or Paul....with KG, Dwight being more of a long shot.

You just can't really make a credible argument against Kobe for MVP, and I would love to because I hate Kobe as well as the Lakers. The Lakers will likely end up with the 2nd best record in the NBA and first in the West. While Paul and LeBron are great neither is a real threat to win a title, if LeBron can't overtake the Magic what has his play really been worth? After watching this season play out and obviously you would be taking the impact Garnett has had off the court for granted, Boston likely would have finished no worse than second best if they lost any of the big 3 for large part of the season.
