For what it's worth, Cedric Maxwell just said on WEEI that Ray Allen should be playing tonight.

Hope so.

If he plays, I hope he made sure that it won't have any negative consequences. But I would really like to see him play tonight and give us some more offensive firepower when we desperately need it.

On the other hand, we are coming off a huge win with our current lineup, and it would be much bigger to win with this lineup against Houston than have Ray in it and lose the game. Haters would be all over us again if we lost it with Ray.

But overall, I like our chances much better with Ray in the lineup.

It wasn't a big topic of conversation the way he said it. He was just rattling off a list of reasons he thought the Celtics had a good chance tonight such as: playing great defense, Ray Allen should be playing, the Rockets had no one to match up with Garnett, etc.

Update: Now WEEI is calling Ray "Doubtful" for tonight.

Doesn't appear likely.

I'd like to see him come off the bench with Sam Cassell tonight, see if he can contribute. it's a big game, and I like the psychological edge of bringing him in when the other team isn't expecting it.

But--- if the injury is serious it's still better to rest him.

More important for Ray to be healthy for the playoffs than to win a few extra games in the regular season. Give him all the time he needs.
