OT:the Jealousy of other team's fans...

One of my best friends is a Laker fan(I live in L.A. unfortunately)---and he keeps telling me to enjoy this Celtics team that they "Bought"...Plus, I keep seeing these type of posts on all the sites for NBA fans.
Do you think that most of these people are just jealous?...or is it that they are still in shock that Danny Ainge could turn the team with the 2nd worst record into the BEST team in the NBA in less than a year?...Also, the fact that the Celtics haven't been good in 20 years (now they're not only good-they're awesome)might also be keeping them in denial-they will probably ask for an asterisk to be placed on the Larry O'Brien trophy this year!!
I'm sure that most of you have had the same encounters--I tell my friend that Ainge worked hard for 4 years...drafted well, stockpiled young players/draft picks/expiring contracts and THEN traded away more than half our team to get Ray Allen and KG--this is how he "Bought" our success.
Of course, I also tell him that Jerry West "Bought" Shaq and their 3 rings--but he doesn't wanna hear that.
Oh well...I'm just gonna enjoy EVERY minute of this season--and if the C's end up winning it all--the celebration won't be tainted at all-!

There is no "buying" championships in the NBA. In the MLB, sure, but I don't really see how that could even be accomplished in the NBA.
Let them think what they want to think. You won't be able to convince anyone who has their mind set on hating the Celtics.

The last three Lakers championships don't happen without "buying" Shaq in free agency.
There are many ways to build a championship team, and none are any more legitimate or illegitimate than the others.

If the Celtics team was bought then the Lakers team was handed to them (Pau Trade)

The "buying" thing is a common comment - misguided of course. I live in LA and have heard that as well.
Food for thought:
* Shaq was bought from Orlando for those "bought" rings.
* Wilt was bought from the Sixers for a "bought" ring.
* Kobe drafed by Lakers? So was Pierce by the Celts. Gasol and Odom were bought, just as Ray and KG.
* 3 players out of our starting 5 were drafted by the Celts. 6 players out of our 12-man rotation have been drafted by the Celtics - a higher percentage than many other teams.
* How about that great Pistons championship team? Sheed was bought from Portland; Rip from Washington; Billups from the Wolves. Dams, that championship was "bought",no?
Trades are so common in the hunt for a championship game that the examples are endless. It is a silly comment to make, expecially coming from a Lakers fan.

What your best friend was trying to say is that it blows not being a Boston sports fan.

Lakers fans are just jealous because they know they have NO SHOT WHATSOEVER at a ring for the rest of Kobe's career and that the C's have a legit shot for the next 5 years. Nobody in the NBA can hang with the Celtics in a 7 game series and everyone else knows it, fears it, and hates it.

Well, we have been jealous for 20 years. The Lakers had 3 titles. They bought Shaq. What is the point?

You guys don't have anything better to do than seat here and hate on the Lakers?
I see the fear in you fans, you guys always try to compare you guys to the Lakers.
The person that fears his opponent always tries to knock them down..
You guys have the easy route to the NBA finals.. taking on teams that are 20 games under 500.
have fun and enjoy while it lasts

Celtics vs. East: 32-9 (.780 record)
Celtics vs. West: 23-4 (.852 record)
In other words, the Celtics would have an even better record this season had they played in the West.
Ignorance is bliss.

2-0 against the Lakers, 23-4 against the West.
Neither the Celts nor their fans are scared.

This Season:
Lakers vs Boston: 0-2
Lakers vs. Cleveland: 0-2
Lakers vs. Detroit: 1-1
Oh, the fear.

Not to say the C's cant handle the west but c'mon man u cant be serious about this, the C's would not have a better record if they played in the west.
im a laker fan and almost everygame thats against the west is practically a close game and we dont see the 76, bucks, knicks, n bobcats 3 or 4 times a year......

And thats why the Lakers have a .500 + Record. In the east The Lakers would be victims of the constant barage of the Bobcats Wizards Bucks and 76ers every night. In the Beasty Easty the Lakers would be around 4th or 5th seed.

I've said it all along, the Lakers don't have the personnel to even slow down Paul Pierce and Gasol is barely a hindrance to KG. In turn, the Celtics have 4 (Allen, Allen, Pierce, Posey) defenders to throw at Kobe plus a great team defense scheme. Kobe, on top of having to dominate offensively to give the Lakers any chance at all, has to guard Ray Freakin Allen. Beyond Gasol vs. KG, Bynum/Turiaf/Vlad is at best a wash vs. Perk/Powe/Brown/Posey. At PG the Celtics either have a slight edge or it's a wash. So what on earth is there to fear for the Celtics? The Lakers have no decided advantage (except for the hope that resides in the hearts of Kobe jock riders) against the Celtics. The C's are as effective on offense while having more chemistry and better defense, BY FAR.
The Jazz, Spurs, Pistons, Cavs, and Suns all have better chances against the Celtics than the Lakers.
