Clearly you don't watch the Celtics too much.

He's skipping ever more trips, especially the longer ones.

The reason isn't his own health so much as a need to take care of the cancer-stricken Redhead In Needham (as she still is called, although at this point there has to be doubt as to both the quantity and color of her hair).

And by the way, since Obama has popularized the goofy-uncle metaphor:

Heinsohn is everybody's beloved uncle. He has more years of serious Celtic service than anybody else in history, INCLUDING RED AUERBACH. He was directly and heavily involved in the first 13 championships, around for the other three, and around for the lean decades since. He is a smart, decent, and creative man.

Occasional screwy analysis or even bigoted comments notwithstanding, he's one heck of a guy.

as an aside, I noticed during the Spurs game that Sean Elliott makes him seem even-handed by comparison.

Tommy has forgotten more about basketball than any other announcer has ever known. So what if the guy is a homer, HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE. And the best part is, he's always right. Mike and Tommy are without question the best announcing duo in the game.

I like that he is a homer, it's funny.

Obviously I love Tommy (the sig kinda gives it away). The whole "he's a massive homer, what a jerk" thing really pisses me off. He's the Celtics announcer, he's been associated with the franchise for god knows how many years and he's a passionate guy. Do people expect him to have no bias? He's funny, and it's not like he's ever really being malicious with his comments.

The C's are lucky to have Tommy. I don't think there is anybody in the world more passionate about Celtics basketball than him, and my goal in life is to get a Tommy Point.
