Simply Amazing

Post#1 » by Prue » Tue Apr 8, 2008 4:25 pm

I just wanted to say regardless how this season ends its been pretty amazing. To have the biggest turn around in NBA history speaks for itself. I've been a die hard C's fan all my life and I have not experienced a season like this since I was a little kid. I'm trying to soak it all in, every game that I can't watch I immedietly hit the news paper in the morning to read about it.

I understand the season is not over but this has been my favorite year as a Celtics fan. Is this the best season ever?

If they win the title it will be up there pretty high.

I don't think this tops 86 - but it's probably been more fun than any other year, provided the memory doesn't get tainted by the consummation via championship

In my mind if they win it all it will be the best season ever, but for me if they lose itll be like this years Patriots. It couldve/shouldve/wouldve been the best season had they won it all but they choked in the end and the whole season doesnt seem so special to me anymore. If the Celtics dont win it all this will be 2nd favorite season next to Jim Obriens 01/02 Celtics

You know this team would sweep those 49 win 01/02 celtics, right? I liked that team, but that celtics team would get dominated by this squad. It was some of the ugliest offense I've ever seen. Such an ugly ugly offense. Shot 42%... Pierce and Walker were chucking up threes at a rapid pace. No ball movement. No fast breaks... and a quirky defense. The Eastern Conference has never been worse, imo. We barely beat Iverson and Derrick Coleman in round 1... we beat a Pistons team lead by Jerry Stackhouse and Cliff Robinson in round 2... and then we choked against the Nets in the ECF. Same average Nets team that was mutilated two years in a row in the finals. Just a low point for the ECF and possibly the NBA in general.

Trust me... I loved that little overachieving bunch or rag tag players. They had heart. But this team would straight up tear it to pieces. It was a fun playoff run, but this year has already blown it away in my opinion. First time we've had a legit team since like 1992

The difference with the 86 team was that we drafted Larry and got to ride his career the whole way. As good as Pierce is, KG is the straw stirring the drink and we had to trade for him.

86 gets the nostlagia factor, but this team isn't far behind.

Now all we need is a championship.

yeah...that would be awesome, assuming we win the title this season. i'm a buccaneers fan & i have the tampa bay super bowl dvd. it has highlights of every game throughout the year, then full footage of all the playoff games, the nba should do the same thing. i still put in that bucs dvd at times, b/c there's not much else to be happy about bein a tampa fan these days.

but lets not get ahead of ourselves, lets get #17 first!!!!

This season has been great but 1983-1987 were all more enjoyable, its a great team to watch but watching Bird at his peak takes the cake.

The 86 team would have lost to this squad no doubt about it. Just more athletes on this team. Plus they could not play defense like the current team.

Championship or not this has been my most memorable season. I was young when the 86 team was winning championships so I don't think I appreciate it as much. We have been horrible in resent years ... I think that is what makes this year better; just the fact that I appreciate it so much because of the resent losing.

I don't know about that my friend. The '86 team had Larry Bird, Bill Walton coming off the bench, and as much as I like Rondo, DJ circa '86 would kill him. Still, it'd be fun to watch.

But this team is amazing. Totally agree with the OP; it's just beautiful basketball
