Boston loses second season series to an EC foe
Tonight will be interesting to see whether or not Boston's reserves can withstand the big three of Washington.
Could this game be a preview of Boston's potential second round opponent? That is, if Boston were to win their first round series. I've a feeling that Boston could face the winner of the Cleveland versus Washington series. Cleveland would be better off not to lose home court advantage in the first round. Their opponent could be Philadelphia or Toronto but it'll likely be Washington.
With a win tonight, Washington becomes the second eastern conference team to win their season series against Boston. Orlando being the first...

Tongiht's game means nothing, and the Wizards don't have any edge on the Celtics whatsoever. These last few games are just an extended preseason.

Didn't we destroy the Wizards by 20 when they had Arenas? Rondo missed the first game they beat us, and obviously wasn't very healthy in the following game, Washington has no edge on us.. if we lose tonight, it's because Doc doesn't play the starters more than 20 something minutes, and the 2nd unit plays like crap like they did in the 4th vs Milwaukee. Even if we lose tonight and met them in the playoffs, we still have home court...and the playoffs couldn't come quicker!

Thats what the Magic fans kept saying to us before we beat them last game. They beat us right after you did but we started the season at 0-5 and had no chemistry. We couldnt beat anyone at the leauge at that time and got blown out in nearly every game. That game hardly tells the truth of our teams.LucerneStDoggz wrote:Didn't we destroy the Wizards by 20 when they had Arenas? With that being said, I do agree that it doesnt mean much tonight. I think you guys want the win but if you do lose then you wont feel like you still couldnt beat us in the playoffs. I do think we would worry you guys "some" though. Arenas has looked amazing since he returned. You wouldve never thought he had missed that much time

It means something to the wizards right? Can't they steal the 4th spot from the Cavs? I'd take alot of satisfaction in watching the Cavs slip to the 5th spot...but I suppose from our perspective it might be ALOT safer to play the Cavs then the Wizards. The Wizards are kinda dangerous whereas the Cavs are a one man show.

I meant the game will mean nothing to the Celtics. Obviously the Wizards are still playing for positioning. And a team should never look at a game in terms of who they'd want to play in the second round. I guarantee you the Celtics don't care who they face. They're not gonna lay down and let the Wizards win so the Cavs can drop to #5, but they're also not gonna play like it's a playoff game. 62 wins has earned them that luxury.

The Mavericks won 67 games last year and they still got smoked.
Our regular season record doesn't mean squat in the playoffs.
Look at what happened to the Patriots.

Neither does the Wizards regular season record against us. Works both ways. The Pats beat the Giants in the regular season.

Well, Washington has a tougher remaining schedule on paper than Cleveland. However, if I'm Cleveland and not Washington, I'm concern about possibly not advancing out of the first round. But, you're at a disadvantage if you're Cleveland regardless. If you should advance by Washington's big three. Then you'll have to face Boston's big three and that's a tall order. The playoffs may prove that Cleveland took a step backward with that mid-season trade. I don't believe they're a better team from it. Heck, you could've both James and Bryant lead teams this season lose in the first round of the playoffs.

Should be an interesting matchup if Washington can hold on to the 5th and get past Cleveland.
Haha, I knew before even coming on that some Wizards fan would hop onto this thread and try to talk about how much the Celtics "wanted" this game. Who are you trying to prove it to, Celtics fans or yourself? Uh oh, the Wizards have the psychological edge, and now they're the odds on favorite to win it all.
