Hawks Finish the season with a loss to the Heat

Post#1 » by Rocky5000 » Thu Apr 17, 2008 3:34 am

Ouch. They played their starters major minutes too.
The Heat had seven players in double figures, including Ricky Davis (15 points, nine assists, seven rebounds), Earl Barron (13), Stephane Lasme (12) and Chris Quinn (11).

Josh Smith scored 20 points for Atlanta, which got 17 points and five assists from Mike Bibby. Zach Pachulia and Salim Stoudamire each scored 14 for Atlanta.

The Hawks are headed to the playoffs for the first time since 1999 and off to Boston for what looks like a monumental first-round playoff mismatch. And for Hawks coach Mike Woodson, it's hair today, gone tomorrow: He'll shave his head Thursday to commemorate Atlanta's spot in the playoffs.

No offense to the Hawks or their fans, but not exactly a great way to go into the playoffs...

Woodson was playing starters who didn't want to be out there. The energy level of the starters were down the entire game. He should have been playing the bench. Heat came out with a lot of energy and the Hawks didn't care about matching it. No need to read anything into this last game except our HC is a fool for not giving the bench more playing time.

Why is everyone so surprised that Blount hit some 3 pointers? Shooting was never his problem. He has no heart or toughness. I'd be much more surprised if he had 4 dunks in a game. I always expect him to settle for the jump shot. And since the Heat mailed it in back in December, why not let him bomb away from 3.

I just only remember him ever taking one here in Boston, that's all. I knew the guy could shoot.

I wonder if he skipped down the court after hitting a few last night?

now that the hawks made the playoffs, you should already know that they didn't care about the last remaining games.

These guys are just glad to be in the playoffs. They could careless how the remaining games went. We as fans and maybe the Hawks players themselves know that everyone expects the Celtics to crush them. They are just going out there and enjoy the experience. I am surprise this was even brought up.

I don't think we should really underestimate the Hawks. As much as we'd like the Celtics to demolish them, they're talented enough to compete with the better teams. A little more jelling with Bibby would help.. give them maybe next year to do that

lol I cant believe KG had to play with Blount in Minnesota, just the absolute worst guy you could possibly put next to KG downlow on so many levels. Thank god Perk is the anti-Blount

Someone needs to repost the gif of that play where KG passes it to Blount wide-open under the hoop. Blount proceeds to bobble it so badly (ol' Stone-hands again!) that KG takes it away from him and dunks it.

I have the gif but I'm too lazy to do it! Someone else have it? If not I will post it.

It was a meaningless game to them. Let's not underestimate the Hawks. Let's not be ugly winners and ugly fans. Act like you've been there -- taunting is for kids. That team plays tough - they're just too young to know how to finish games in the last 2-3 minutes. Atlanta will lose but don't be surprised if it's not the doube-digit blowout sweep many expect.
