This is like the end in Celtic Pride where the guy from Bushwacked is forced to cheer for the team the Celtics were playing.

Bill Simmons, loud and clear buddy.

Are you a Hawks fan? I would respond with something bad about Atlanta fans, but there's only 5 of you.

I have a feeling Simmons is actually trying not to jinx the C's... considering the outcome in the superbowl when he wrote the column about the Pats being as good as the 86 Celtics BEFORE the superbowl
"I have conflicted feelings right now. I mean its great and all, and no way I'd change it, but does anyone else kinda feel that we got luckier than we deserved to get? It almost feels like we're the benefactor of some NBA conspiracy."

You should pick against your team because your worried about a "jinx"? Talk about a misguided ego.... Nothing Bill Simmons says or does effects the Boston Celtics team.

The whole jinx bit is weak sauce. Individual fans don't effect outcomes of games with maybe the exception of that dude who caught the home run. :P

If we're going with the "jinx" theory, then why isn't Simmons jinxing the Celtics by picking them in the first, second, and third round?

I also think he was overly harsh on Ray Allen. Simmons brags about how much he watches the games, and then bashes Allen as "not a great defender".

It sounded pretty convincing that he's taking the Lakers. He went to great lengths to explain why he's being objective and not a homer. He needs to get off of Kobe's jock.

He's not "totally sold" that Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Sam Cassell can hit big shots?

I guarantee, though, that when the Celtics win, he'll come up with the same lame "jinx" excuse that his supporters are defending him with.

I'm not saying this is the way I'd go about it myself. Through the years reading about Bill's life with the celts and his recent history "jinxing" the pats, it wouldn't be a far stretch to think that he thinks -in his mind, and in his mind alone- that he is doing a service to the Celtics.

I don't know, maybe he really has the Lakers as his favorites.

I also bet that 90% of the posters here have watched more Celtics game than the so-called "Sports Guy."

He doesn't know a damn thing about the Celtics anymore.

Guys, 2. things, I happen to agree that he is trying to avoid jinxing the celts.

2. Maybe he legitmatly belives the lakers are the best team this year, maybe thats his unbiased opinion, I think the spurs of last year weere a better team then we were I am not a lesser fan becuase I don't think my team has the best shot of winning a title that year.

There is absolutely no way that Simmons believes the Celtics won't win.
