Who are some of the prospects you guys are hoping we can/should pickup with the #30?

I think we should pick Bill Walker and revive the Walker and green days. Bill Walker is a solid player who can drive/slam it down with authority and is a young great prospect in which we can spend time with and he can learn under Pierce's wings. Pierce isn't going to play 4+ more seasons so I think Walker will fill in nicely when Pierce retires.

I think the 3 is our 'weakest' position in terms of youth/depth. Not sure whether or not Posey will return/depending on how we end on the season.

Tony Allen is a 'must' re-sign and hopefully we can get a deal to lock this kid up for a few more years. Allen is versatile and can play both 2/3 but I think we need a Bill Walker type player for our future.

What are your opinions on the #30?

I definitely agree on Walker. People forget he was VERY highly touted out of high school. He had a knee injury his first year and he was red-shirted. He did fairly well as a second option to Beasley and I think his game is similar to Pierce's. Not saying he will be as good but he has tremendou potential.

Bill Walker would be great. I don't get all these mocks projecting him into the middle of the second round; dude looks like a mid-lottery pick to me. I don't know about drafting a guy with the intention that he take over for Pierce in 4 years, though. Small forward is the easiest position to fill after shooting guard, so depth there isn't really an issue.

It's really too early to project who will be there at 30. Hell, no one can predict it the day of the draft. That said, I'd be happy with any of Walker, Hendrix, Rush, Chalmers, Tyler Smith, Lee or anyone who falls from the lottery.

One thing we do lack is a true backup center. Wewon'tbe ableto get one that has value at pick #30 but I think we could get someone with the last pickin the draft, David Padgett would be a perfect fit to backup perk. Bill walker is a good value pick he is ina similiar situation as powe a star college player who had some knee injuries. Walker ould be like powein that if the injuries heal we could have a steal. Idon't thinkifhibbert dropped to pick 30 that he is a good value pick I compare him to eric montross and weshould pass. Wecould use a backupto pierce to what about joe alexander or brandon rush or the other lopez twin if he is there.

Bill Walker sounds alright to me for the long term, but I really really like Brandon Rush even if we have to trade up to get him. He's capable of contributing next season, and is still a great long term prospect. Plus Kansas alumni goves instant common ground with PP....this was a guy capable of jumping into the league right out of high school right along with Blatche and Ellis and all them, he was talented enough to be picked, but instead has been patient and has worked on developing his all around skillset. He gets criticized for not dominating the game like people think he can, but played well enough last season for his team to win the national title without the assistance of a surefire top 10 pick (am I mistaken?). We have evidence of his talent, evidence of his desire to become a better player, and has shown a willingness to get in wherever he fits in. And for some odd reason draft "experts" still have him pegged as a mid-late first round pick.

We've seen a lot of debate about high school/1 year players versus four year guys, IMO Brandon Rush in some respects is the best of both worlds and his stock isn't higher because people aren't used to encountering that

I like the idea of drafting a foreign player and keeping him oversees. Setup like a "Farm System" in Europe like the Spurs have done. I personally like Semih Erden's game, the kid bulks up a little bit and he could be like Zydrunas Ilgausksas (but quicker, MUCH quicker).

Rush and Walker are both interesting picks, but if we're going to get the "immediate help" Ainge talked about I think my preference at wing is Shan Foster of Vanderbilt...


Foster is a phenomenal shooter, both on set shots and off the dribble...he's got a great body for defensive play against both wing positions and as a senior he's ready to step in and play a role as a defender/spot up shooter on the perimeter...


I like this kid's potential, despite his lack of outstanding ball-handling, I think he's got Michael Redd level shooting potential...whether or not he has the personality to be more than a role player remains to be seen...

...what is known is that this kid is ready to play, is at least going to be a rotation level sub like James Posey, and has upside at the wing...

...My first player of choice is Robin Lopez though, so if he slips into the 20's i'm hoping Boston does everything they can to snag him...

I say trade the pick for a future first rounder. Who knows who will be at the end of the rainbow in a couple of years.

Memphis traded a 1st rounder away to get Otis Thorpe. Thankfully the Pistons didn't pick the right player. Picture how good Detroit would have been if they didn't pick Darko and went with one of the following players instead

The best part about rooting for a championship contender is how clueless I am in April about late-round draft prospects.

Around this time last year my mouth was watering at likes of Sun Yue and Petri Kaponen, I was a certified draft expert. My how things have changed for the better!

Late-Round draft prospects usually do fairly well for themselves. Some are huge contributers immediately and/or some take time.

The way this rosters setup I see no reason to put another young guy on the team. We've got to stash away the picks to use them when we need them in a few years. If we are going to add someone it should be another veteran for the shooting guard/small forward position. They can take Tony's spot on the team.

I think the last time this topic came up, I argued that it ought to be best player available no matter what. I still think that, but looking at the roster, I do think a shooting guard would probably be a good bet. Since it's a late pick, it's much more likely for a good 2 or 3 to drop that a serviceable center, which is the next position of need.

But whatever, as long as it's a good player he can always be a valuable trading chip down the road.

I'd be ecstatic to land Walker. I definitely think you go w/BPA at # 30. His stock situation reminds me of Powe. PhysicalBruisers like a Walker translate pretty well to the NBA IMO.

BPA - as a pick like that might bust out of the league. I generally don't like foreigners because I think GMs overvalue them.
