Paul Pierce is a TRUE WARRIOR

Post#1 » by Big Baby » Fri Apr 25, 2008 5:27 am

You all saw the hard foul on Paul last night. It was by far the scariest moment of the year and I'm still concerned about the injury. But I wanted to take a moment to express my amazement and gratitude to Paul Pierce.

Last night, after getting pummeled to the ground by Joe Johnson and Josh Smith, Paul jumped right back up, dusted himself off and kept on playing as if nothing happened. Well, something happened and it was scary as hell, but Paul was too busy collecting himself for the two free throws. And as Paul got back on D after the FT, Perk asked him if he should commit a foul and stop the clock so that Paul can get out of the game. And what does Paul do? He shakes his head "No" and keeps on playing until Doc calls a :20 just to get him out of the game.

I suppose I shouldn't have even been surprised by any of it. After all, I've watched him play through all kinds of injuries for the past 10 years. But I just wanted to take a moment and show my appreciation for Paul. In a league where stars make up injuries to draw attention to themselves (Kobe, LeBron) or take a month off with a sprained wrist, Paul just keeps on playing no matter what. Through broken teeth, foot, sprained ankles and even after being stabbed 18 times, Paul Pierce our Captain just keeps on playing.

I'm so proud of Paul Pierce. He is a true warrior. And he is a true Celtic. Thank you, Paul. You are already a Celtic Legend in my book!

Let's Go, Celtics!

Nice to know that Perk made that offer ... probably the last guy who should make that foul though.

Lebron and Kobe make up injuries to get attention?

Not to take anything away from PP, but,

It's great to have a tough guy like Pierce - but the coaching staff needs to reign him in. I don't want the guy to suffer any long term injuries.

He really is a warrior. Think of all the average teams he played on. He had to be really hurting to miss a game. It's not like he is KB24 sitting for every little thing. Paul is cut from the same cloth as Allen Iverson. Those guys are real tough.

I've seen LeBron overact a hard foul in order to get the call and get the crowd pumped (honestly, that hard foul by Haywood the other night didn't look *that* flagrant to me...it was a hard foul but he did make a play for the ball and LeBron did flail his arms and legs a bit for effect)

Pierce is the man, though!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

^^^ To be fair, that foul could have messed up LeBron real bad (when Haywood pushed him in midair).

That said, I agree 100% with the OP about Paul. He's always been a tank.

^^I know it COULD have been a bad foul on LeBron, and I'd have no problem with it being a flagrant 1, but a 2 and ejection??

Even the commentators on TNT said "if that wasn't LeBron, no way Haywood gets tossed"

Man I **** hate the **** "star system" in the NBA

Oh I totally agree about the star system. Funny how Pierce doesn't seem to get quite the same treatment.... Did Stoudamire get a flagrant when he knocked Pierce's teeth out? I really don't remember.

No he didn't.

And Pierce has never gotten calls, which is fine with me as I think the whole system stinks, but they should treat everyone the same, no just rookies (who get screwed) and the perceived stars (who get all the calls)

Vince Carter would've been out for the year after that foul and Chris Bosh would've been out for 3 months.

There ya go. That is the play that defines Paul Pierce.Great Call on that one. Dude gets his front teeth knocked out of his head. He is play ing for an average team. come back in the second half and kicks somes serious ass.

And as far as I can remember, didn't take any games off.

PS, shouldn't we change the title of this threat to TRUE WARIER?

After Pierce got hit, I got serious goose bumps when he jumped right back up and started dusting himself off as if to say, "That didn't hurt me." His toughness is truly amazing.

Paul Pierce should be doing those "Fall 7 times, get up 8" commercials, not DWade.

^^Wade's commercials should say "Fall 7 times, miss 40 games and end your career before you're 30"
