Doc should sit the Big Three

The Celtics have a perfect record when all three sit out a game. I'd like to see what the rest of the squad can do against Atlanta. I say sit the big three. Claim KG and Ray have the flu and Pierce's back hurts.
What is the worst that could happen? We win the series at home.

Absolutely not. There's no reason to play any more games than you have to. This is the playoffs. You don't mess around. When an opponent is on the ground, you don't help him back up. You finish 'em off.
I'd like to see the starters out of the game eariler in the 4th quarter once a lead is at 20, but these guys still need to play.

Why not just win it in 4 and then let them rest. This is the playoffs, not the season. You don't in any way give a chance to any team in the playoffs. Tell Garnett, Allen, and Pierce you want to sit them for a game, it just wouldn't go over well with them.

That makes no sense Theman. If we sweep the Hawks we'll possibly have more then a week off.

I'll take an athletic, better shape Danny Fortson anyday.

You can always press the little X in the corner. I've done it a zillion times.

Terrible idea. It would be insulting to the Hawks, and I'm sure they'd beat us with that sort of motivation.
And as mentioned, you don't want to play any more games than you really need to. Phil Jackson's last book talked about how the Lakers' inability to close the Wolves out in 5 games may have cost them the Finals against the Pistions. Karl Malone got injured in game 6 of the WCF, and was ineffective against Detroit.
Can you imagine the hell that would break loose if Doc sat the Big 3 for game 3, and Kevin Garnett ended up tearing his ACL in game 5?

I hope you were just kidding around.
Problems:
1) It's disrespectful
2) No doubt we'd be more likely to lose the game, and thus lose some rest before the next series.
3) If somehow we lose the series (especially in 7 games) no one would ever forget.
No question in the playoffs you want to minimize the amount of games you play, to keep players rested (since they'll be playing more minutes) and injury free.

This is a very bad idea. These guys have gotten plenty of rest over the last few weeks. I don't think them being tired is an issue at all. Finish these Hawks off in 4 games and they'll have a nice little break. I see the Cavs/Wiz series going 6 or 7 games anyway.

LOL, I think theman wasn't really serious about this suggestion. BUT we have seen our bench beat the hawks, so I think we could still sweep them even without the Big 3. The thing wrong with doing it, is that it would be seen as unsportsmanlike. I see no reason why Doc can't pull the starters after the close of the third though...Some of our bench guys need the practice in playoff situations.

Although Doc would never do it, it would be interesting to see. Maybe if we're up 3-0, we can do it for game 4.

Curb minutes, sure. Sit completely? No, no, no a thousand times no.
All these guys are creatures of routine, why on EARTH would you completely disrupt that in the middle of the playoffs?

...wow are we getting arrogant...
I wouldn't even assume this game is going to be a win, let alone a blowout...and we're talking about sitting guys?
The Celtics better come out a damn site better than the team that showed up in the 4th quarter of the last game....Boston plays its regulars and looks to win the game...don't assume ATL will fold in its first playoff game-Boston better play hard...

Maybe a little arrogant, but have the Hawks shown you anything beyond a few little 2 minute stretches to suggest they can even hang in the same gym as the C's? I'll save you the suspense, the answer is NO

I don't think those fans speak for everyone Bill. We havent won a road game yet. That's very important. We lose this next game and we are suddenly stuck in a series.
There is no chance in *ell that we would ever rest our big 3 in a playoff game. It's just idiotic on so many levels.
