Is Kevin Garnett going to be suspended he shoved the ref.

Post#1 » by EddyCurryJoshSmith0502 » Tue Apr 29, 2008 5:38 am

In the NBA this is a big NO NO. I expect him to be suspended along with Perkins and Marvin WIlliams what do you guys think this could be a huge blow in the series and swing the tide in the Hawks favor its pretty obvious that he did shove him. Since both Stu Jackson and David Stern were at the game. If you didnt see it here you go.

I'm still waiting for the ROOKIE, Al Hortford to get an ounce of discipline after directly taunting Paul Pierce. And don't give me the whole "it's the playoffs, refs let that sort of thing slide" angle. Players have been NAILED for much less. It is complete and utter crap that Pierce was fined, but there has been ZERO mention of Hortford's actions. I'm so angry about that.

As for this game, I had to listen on the radio, so I couldn't say. Can any Celtics fans explain what they saw? Did Garnett really 'shove' him, or is he just moving past him and holding him back?

It doesn't look good for KG with both hands grasping the ref.

There is no reason for KG to "hold back" a ref.

From everything that's gone before, initiating contact with a ref is an automatic suspension.

Hand gesture is worse than a hursh talk man. So what if Horford told him a couple of nasty words.

Horford talked smacked thats it last time I checked thats a technical if anything. what else more did he do. Its the same thing Paul Pierce did after game two. Telling Horford him this so dont give me this crap Paul Pierce is an angel he started all this mess by opening his big mouth. KG AND PIERCE both started talking smack thinking they were the best thing on the planet they needed to shut up. Paul Pierce throw up Gang signs and tryed to charge the Hawks bench is a well known punk.

The reason why Horford was doing an extra bit of jawing...especially to Pierce was this reason:

During the closing the moments of Game Two, when things started to get heated and testy, Pierce popped off this statement:

"Ten stacks ($10,000) we sweep your ass!"

He was standing right in front of Horford when he said this. Horford replied:

"My heart dont pump kool-aid. I'mma be right here....and I aint going no where! It aint over!"

So tonight, when Horford was jawing, he was directing his words to Pierce saying:

"F--- you pay me! Don't be writing checks your ass can't cash!"

KG jumped into the war of words....and it lit a fire under Horford. A fire that only champions know....albeit a college champ.....but Horford lives for these kind of moments. So, that's why Horford was so pumped....and you gotta love that coming from a rook. But this all started from Pierce and KG popping off a lil too much Game Two....and not us!

Why what he did is against NBA Rules you are not allowed to touch or SHOVE the REF in anyway like he did how can you not suspend him?

Don't you think if KG really shoved a ref 1) the ref would of thrown him out, 2) The ref reviewing the play would of spoted it and thrown him out?

The refs saw it as nothing more then that ref trying to step in and nothing to retaliate against.

If you look at the Video, the ref initiated the original contact between the two.

He stepped infront of KG to to prevent KG from jumping into the altercation, and he appeared to grab onto KG.

KG very clearly angrily shoved the ref away from him so that he could step into the action.

Only chance he has of not being suspended is if they let the shove go because the ref initiated the contact.

But if they don't suspend them does that open the door for move violence against refs trying to step in and break up altercations?

Truth or Bull ****?

And your sig you don't think is a taunt?

Now a hopefully thread about KG suspension is started on our own board.

Don't you think if we thought that was something to worry about our hundreds of seperate posters would of made their own thread?

This is the same board that makes 20 threads a year on how Scalabrine isn't THAT bad or maybe he is...

The way you're going about it this thread will be locked soon.

look I know what your saying but before you start your logic. Consider the ref that it happened too didn't feel it was a shove at him. And the head ref reviewed the entire incident in slow motion. Considered it nothing.

AND the TNT announcers also brushed that aside to talk about Perkins or Marv having one foot across the line.

notice how everyone seems to brush it aside as nothing? Same theory as where there's smoke there's fire except the exact opposite. Where there is no smoke there is no fire.

I'm NOT saying the punishment should be equivalent, and I'm not comparing this KG thing with Hortford. All I can say is the NBA in recent years has had a zero tolerance policy for the sort of stuff Hortford did, and for whatever reason, he slipped through the cracks.

I'm sorry but the notion that the Hawks are completely and totally innocent in instigating a war of words is utter lunacy.

I'm curious how you know exactly what each of them said to each other. Don't take that to mean I'm suspicious, but merely curious. Were you at the games? Can you read lips?

EDIT:

And just to distinguish between Hortford mouthing off, and Pierce mouthing off, Hortford did it flailing his arms, screaming and yelling, staring straight at Pierce. I don't think it makes it any more or less of an offense, but the league office goes by what it SEES and they couldn't have missed this.
