This is not overconfidence, or jinxing by any means.

Do you really think the NBA would let Boston lose in the first round? Do you realize how big Boston-Cleveland (memories of Jordan going crazy at Boston Garden), Boston-Detroit (the best series in recent memory), and Boston-LA (the NBA would dominate the sports world) would be for the league?

Do you realize, when they asked David Stern live whether we'd see him in Boston for a game (game 5), he replied that more or less that there was plenty of time.. i.e. he will be there for the ECF and Finals

And whatever happens with Perk/KG, do you really think this team can lose 4 games in a row?

This is probably a 7 game series, but we've got home court. You can't beat the Celts at home. If you could, then you deserve to win the series.


Detroit is in the same position. it doesn't change the inevitability of Boston-Detroit to any degree. This isn't Dallas of last year. Sorry to say, both these teams (Boston, Detroit 2007-08 ) are at a different level than those great Mavs last season. When the Celtics and Pistons play normally, they blow out the other team as we've seen. They'll get back to doing that.. and who knows, maybe with a little help.

I certainly hope the NBA lets Boston (or any team) lose whenever they deserve to lose.

Still not buying the "NBA won't let the Celtics" lose thing. It has nothing to do with a league-wide conspiracy.

Other than that, I agree with your point: If the Celtics get back to playing how they did for 82 regular-season games and the first two playoff games, then they're more than likely going to win this series. Let's hope they have a serious nut check tomorrow night.

Well first the coach needs to coach like he did in the regular season.

I love all these half baked conspiracy theories. I said after game 2 the celtics would have a hard time winning the game and people bashed me for that. The fact is they are getting out played in every aspect of the game. Hawks are too much for them. Even if they somehow win the series they have already proved themselves as frauds. There is no way a contender should lose 2 games in a row to a team that won 37 regular season games. This is like the dallas and golden state series all over again.

Yes. Doc did a great job in the regular season, but now he's messing with rotations, too much Cassell, not enough Eddie House or Baby, Powe's minutes change from one night to the next...Doc needs to just settle down and get back to his bread and butter.

calm down, this is basically like the Kings/Spurs series from 2006 when the Kings shocked the spurs for 2 wins in a row, everything will be alright and the Celtics will blow out the hawks in the next two games.

You're not really expecting the refs to make call in your favor, I've argued this when people say the refs handed the Lakers a 4 game sweep of the Nuggets. If that was the case, Celtics would have already been in the 2nd round.

Give credit when credit is due. I would have figured lakers would be dueling it out 2-2 with the Celtics sweeping the Hawks. Celtics just have a match up problem because the Hawks are younger and more athletic. (see Dallas vs. Golden State from last year) Rivers just needs to offset that using the big 3s experience to win out.

But I'm not saying a Lakers Celtic final wouldn't be classic.

They have. If the pistons are having a hard time with the sixers then the are not winning the championship either. However the sixers are a better team so it is not as bad as what the celtics are going though now (although it is close)

The NBA has nothing to do with this series or any other series... its not like Stern is on the phone with woodson saying ok now just let them blow you out in these next two games.

There is no conspiracy. If there was, the NBA would have a serious lawsuit on their hands.

Is there some preferential treatments? Of course there is. But those players have earned it. For example, if Lebron or Kobe goes to the basket with bodies flying and misses a bunny, even if he wasn't fouled, a ref might think he missed because he was bumped. But those are human mistakes.

Every NBA team owner is a very very powerful and rich man. More so than any of us can possibly imagine. There is no way, NBA can just decide to screw a team (especially not the Celtics because they are one of the marquee teams) and get away with it.
