If you could upgrade our 5 spot

Who would you swap Perk for? What Centers out there would be the best fit with our team as it stands now. Feel free to respond both hypothetically; ie Ming even though we couldn't get him, or realisticly; ie someone we COULD trade for.
note: I love Perk, this thread is all in good fun and to give us something to talk about besides the 2 losses.

Marcus Camby
Brad Miller
Emeka Okafor
Andris Bierdrins
Yoa Ming
Andrew Bogut
Tyson Chnadler
Dwight Howard
Tim Duncan
Let me just say I am a Perk fan, but I would trade him for anyone of these centers.

Camby would be the guy followed by Tyson Chandler.
Okafor would almost be perfect too.

Perkins is not the reason that the series is tied at 2-2.

No, but he's been pretty shite this series. He's not nearly as good as a lot of people on here think, although he *is* decent and I like the guy.

i know many of you disagree, but i still say Perk is a backup center in this league.

On a team with a real center, absolutely. We, however, have no choice!

Most obtainable...Hibbert.
We don't have a single real low post offensive threat, that's our biggest weakness.

sorry, I thought it was funny. I'll go now.
But honestly, what if I had a thread saying "who would you rather have than Luke Walton" then I listed, Carmelo, lebron, paul pierce, ron artest and kirilenko.
be honest with yourselves, you could not trade Perk for a starting C in this league. you'd be hard pressed to name 5 Centers who he's better than.

With the exception of Howard (who we will never get), I don't think any of those guys complement KG. KG needs a strong inside presence, a guy who can play interior D and hold his own in the paint. Camby and Chandler can block shots, but they are lean guys who can get moved around in the paint.
That being said, a guy like Brendan Haywood would be a perfect fit. Big and strong, can play interior D, and can score much better than Perk.
Don't see any way you could trade Perk for a better center unless you include other good player(s) to the deal. But why would anyone trade their good center?

nobody said anything about trading Perk FOR another center. it was just a hypothetical.

I've been saying this for years. I agree. His teammates are making him look better than he actually is

Fixed.
Until Ray Allen can run a pick and roll without stalling the entire offense or doesn't ball-pound by taking the ball out of KG and PP's hands, the offense won't run proficiently. Ray's job, when paired with PP and KG is to provide space. Put the ball in Rondo's hands, allow him to make the decisions. Ray's on-the-ball decision-making has been fairly poor all season, imo.
This thread is just silly, imo. The team has actually been at it's best with Perkins in the line-up, even during the playoffs.
The team has struggled when he has been on the bench. Not because he has been a big offensive threat but because he is a stalwart defensively and occupies space offensively. He sacrifices his offense to allow more offensively talented teammates to operate. He sacrifices himself defensively to cover for teammates.
Consider the following:
In the playoffs, the starting unit has put up the following:
ORtg: 116.97
DRtg: 96.83
During the regular season, the starting unit put the following:
ORtg: 112..87
DRtg: 93.40
Now, Ray Allen, without the starters, has put up the following:
ORtg: 111.25
DRtg: 106.88
Exp Win%: .637
Paul Pierce without the starters:
ORtg: 120.00
DRtg: 112.17
Exp Win%: .720
Kevin Garnett without the starters:
ORtg: 116.55
DRtg: 98.56
Exp Win%: .913
Rajon Rondo without the starters:
ORtg: 108.70
DRtg: 99.10
Exp Win%: .785

He is a backup center. He would be very important if he had that role. He is too short, makes a lot of mistakes if he has the ball in his hands too long, and his offense is not there.
The Celtics need someone taller, and if Garnett is still around next time, they need someone with an outside shot to punish teams that send extra defenders at Garnett.
Brad Miller, Raef LaFrentz, Spencer Hawes, Troy Murphy, Mehmey Okur, and if he had a brain Rasheed Wallace. They can all hit outside shots.
If a tall center who can block shots and shoot outside isn't around, then just find someone huge, Mark Eaton size to block the middle.

He's not the best center in the league, but I think Sam Dalembert would be a fantastic fit on this team.
