Changes to the Rotation

These are the changes I've noticed in the rotation for this series.

Playoff Rotation to start the game
[No House, No Tony]
Sub Posey for Ray, move Pierce to SG
Sub Powe for KG, Sub PJ Brown for Perk
Sub Cassell for Rondo, Sub Ray for Pierce
Then sub back in the starters one by one, and maybe leave Powe...

Regular Season Rotation to start the game
Sub Posey for Perk, Move KG to C and Posey at PF
Sub Tony for Ray, Sub House or Cassell for Rondo
Sub Powe for KG...Sub Ray for Pierce, Sub KG for Posey..

Look at the 82 games stats for 5 man units
http://www.82games.com/0708/0708BOS2.HTM

The Rondo, Pierce, Posey, KG, Perk lineup only played 38 minutes all season, with a +7 ...So far we've seen that every game.

Our 2nd most used lineup and 2nd most productive, during the season was Rondo, TA, Pierce, KG, Perkins. This lineup was a +74 in 159 minutes. I don't think we've seen that lineup at all in this series.

Our 3rd most used lineup was Doc going small with Posey at PF, with the big 3 and rondo. Usually I don't like this lineup, but the Hawks are one team where that lineup should be pretty successful.

I think we should go back to doing what got us 66 wins.

Dude, that's one of the best breakdowns I've seen on this site! The numbers don't lie...well done :)

What's the point of going conventionally big against a small team if you neither:

A. Score in the post?
B. Block their shots?

Rebounding is the only answer that comes to mind ...

I'm usually against the small line-ups, but I would like to see some more of Posey/KG in the front court. Smith is giving us big problems around the hoop with his shotblocking and Posey can draw him out to open up the lane. Also, Posey should do a decent job on Smith on the defensive end. In addition, this will allow TA to come in to spell either Ray or Pierce and hound Joe Johnson for a few minutes.

Speaking of rebounding, how come in the 4th quarter of both losses, when we take a shot, everyone else on the team runs down the court, thus leaving us with 1 or 0 people vying for the rebound? This one-and-done **** each offensive trip down the floor is pissing me off!

I really wish he stayed with what worked during the season. It would make sense to sub Posey in for Perk like we did during the season because he'd be a better defender against Josh Smith than Garnett.

^^That's what I don't get...he changed the gameplan entirely after game 2...if it worked for 82 games plus games 1 and 2, why tinker?

Cassell should not play tonight. Rondo should play close to 40 min and the rest of the PG minutes should go to TA and House, unless we're up by 60 or need someone to take a hard foul and get suspended.

Tony Allen needs to get some playing time in this series. He's the best or second best defender for Joe Johnson and he has the kind of toughness and athleticism to stand toe to toe with Childress and other Hawks on the boards.

Perk needs to play big minutes and I would actually feature him as an offensive option in the low post. I say this because Perk is capable of forcing the Hawks to double him which allows the Trio more room to operate. The Celtics need more Perk/Powe or Perk/Davis and less Garnett/Posey or Powe/Davis or Brown/Powe.

absolutely!
put him in for 10 minutes "tiring out" joe johnson
make him work for his points

The only thing I'd do is cut Ray's minutes by five, take all Sam's minutes, and give those to Tony Allen. Pump him up and make him play like the pit bull he can be- it energizes the whole team.
