Paul Pierce not clutch - posters say!

I was shocked at some of the posts in this thread about Boston Celtic Paul Pierce, and who he was ranked behind.

I'm not a homer or anything, but I feel I have an understanding of what the truth is - pardon the pun - because of some of these posts are so misinformed it makes me wonder when this guy will stop being under-rated.

I'm guessing an NBA Finals appearance would give him the stage to perform. I don't think he's the best player in the NBA or the best clutch player, but he is a legitimate star in this league and is one of the best clutch players around.

If they saw the vintage Pierce, not many have, he'd be first hands down. HT isn't clutch

As much of a homer and Celtics-fanatic I am, Pierce is overrated when it comes to clutchness. He certainly is our best option and he comes through a lot, but he's not automatic by any means.

I still love the guy, though

Then, based on his "conversion rate", if you will, what were Bird, Jordan, Hondo, Sam Jones, Magic, etc? Omniscient gods?

Pierce has had his share of game winners and losers. He is clutch but I dont want to call him "the most clutch ever etc." Out of that list Id take him to take the game winner though

PP thinks an open Ray Allen is the man to take the last J.

I like Pierce in the clutch - however sometimes I think he is tired and leaves his J a bit short. If you notice his "go-to" clutch shot is the step back J...which he can pretty much get off over anyone. When tired though it's less automatic.
