poor officiating ruining the playoffs...
and all the nba in general. Until strern does something, it will continue, and people will stop watching.
I'm not even talking about the horrible c's hawks series.
Just watching the cavs/wiz game. Wiz down by 2, butler drives and goes for layup, LBJ hits him across the arm as he's shooting, clear as day, no doubt, not even close, they call nothing, cavs get 2 on 1 break from it, and go up 5.
Refs should not decide playoff games.

officiating in the nba as a whole, is poor, it is widley known among fans of the game alike
and it's like you tell yourself it's poor, you know it's poor and inconsistent then sometimes it's so inconsistent and poor it just slaps you right in the face
and the nba doesnt seem at all concrened that the officiating is ruing the product

and u wonder why i don't post. IQ of this board < most 5th grade class rooms and has been getting worse the last 8 months.
I make a thread, my first since like, i stopped modding, about how poor officiating is ruining the game, and I get guys going off about me crying. Yeah, so, lets all not complain about anything at all.
from here on out, no crying.....

it's an internet message board about basketball, get over it, this is what it is for.

I'm in total agreement, I feel the refereeing has been horrible and biased so far in the playoffs. I just would like to see a fair called game... if one person's action is a foul, then it should be consistent on the other end... if it's not a foul, then don't call the same thing on the other end. It's frustrating as a fan of the game to see this and not notice it all game long, whether it's a Celtics game or a Cavs/Wiz game...

Keep on posting D.C. You are a great poster and a great fan. You are right about the officiating being bad so far throughout the playoffs.
You are also right about some posters being childess. You make a point and some people can't come back with a valid point for or against what you wrote about. It has become about name calling here for some posters.
It's still a good place to come and talk about what we have passion for, the Celtics.

Totally agree. And it's not even like Darth said officiating in the Celtics series was bad... he meant on the whole! LeBron is getting away with murder, as are the Spurs (nothing new there). It's stupid to see these "great" players get with **** based on reputation. Especially the Spurs team as a whole. It makes me sick seeing the Suns lose to those **** every year, watching Timmeh hack the **** out anyone driving, Nash get mauled by Bowen with no calls, and then see Amare get 3 ticky-tack fouls a game and be taken out of them.

i think we need to remember that the goal of the nba is not about promote or showcase good basketball. it is a business that sells basketball entertainment. people who love basketball for the game just find good basketball entertaining. the nba, which is run by people who with the same skills and worldview as the business jerks who run disneyland or some fashion magazine, think spectacular entertainment is the way to go. so "playoff basketball" becomes lebron and other "superstars" duking and "taking over games", technical fouls and all sorts of fabricated bull that would have just been a little scuffle in the 1980s and is now soap opera/theater wrestling bull.
first, the nba is built around the charisma and skills of "superstars." when a player officially becomes a "superstar," the nba is invested in their greatness. in a way, the nba cannot allow wade or lebron to lose, at least lose face. so there their is incentive to officiate "superstars" differently.
second, there is the incentive to stretch things out for cash, MJ said in his biography that the NBA encouraged him to lose games to drag the finals with the sonics out to make the nba more cash. if anybody follows the news, even passively, they know everything is corrupt as hell. government contracts, political campaigns, surely the nba pull strings to make the playoffs appear genuine when, in fact, they are doing all they can to maximize profits: make the games longer, more sensational and with more focus on "superstars."
the refs, to causal observers, are largely unnoticed. they are in a perfect position to manipulate the games to the ends of the higher management. this is all speculation but, seriously, does anyone believe that the nba isn't manipulated to a degree. i'm not saying its totally rigged but i don't think all comes down to people playing just basketball.
