Pierce had his arms around the player from behind.
Why do that?
That's so stupid.
He practically was asking for a foul call.

They shouldn't have been loosing at that point anyway...

I agree that normally doesn't happen, I though we had a veteran group of officials that coached many finals...
bstein14, I love that signature

if you watch the ENTIRE play---Zaza had Pierce in a headlock just before PP wrapped his arm around him.

It doesn't matter because Pierce didn't create any advantage with that arm around ZaZa.
And in reality ZaZa was still in control of that space.
The ref CAN make that call if ZaZa was flung to the ground by Perice because of that arm.

despite this call and Pierce being gone, they still should have pulled this out. Garnett had four consecutive plays within 10ft of the basket to shoot the ball and he passed each one up...way to "be the man"... why do you think Allen took the three when down by two rather then passing to KG...he knows KG doesn't want the ball

Yep, they were both battling. You really cannot make that kind of call in this big a game.

I was that upset with that foul. It was the fact they didnt make the call on whoever pulled down Perkins going for the offensive rebound after the Ray Allen missed 3.

Its basketball. refs make calls. Refs made the call on Pierce obviously charging Josh Smith on a break, and you have to live with it. Pierce, technically did foul zaza. It was ticky tack, but there was nothing they could do after one ref called the loose ball foul (before knowing that the shot was going in). Its a tough call, but you know...thats basketball. Tough calls went against both teams.

Right on the money!.....I saw the same thing----All the NO CALLS on Atlanta killed us tonight====but we still should have won.

The Celtics got away with NINE Loose Ball Fouls in the FIRST HALF. Something they have gotten away with all series.
Paul Pierce has gotten away with charging his way through defenders ALL SERIES.
Josh Childress has been fouled numerous times on the baseline with no calls.
The Celts get the advantage of touch fouls while BS charges go against Hawks all series.
THis officiating has been overwhelmingly in favor of the Celtics and I shudder to think what type of calls the Celtics will get in a game 7 in Boston.
IOW, STFU

First on the charges, I'm pretty certain the Celts are the best team in the league at drawing them. Second, if the refs are favoring the Celts so much then why are the Hawks having such lopsided FT differentials. Even if you want to argue that slashing should get you more FTs there's no way that explains a +20 FT differential.

Seriously, if you want to talk about bending the rules in favor of one team, Garnett should have been suspended for pushing the ref in game 4. If it had been reversed, Zaza would have been gone.
