We are Just a Jump Shooting Team

First off, I want to start buy saying **** the refs. All 3 of those mother **** need to be fired! But that's ain't going to happen.

When the refs take over a game because they are influenced by the home teams fans, we have to take matters into are own hands. This team needs to force the refs to make calls in our favor. We have to force the action by becoming more aggressive.

The only problem is we are a soft, jump shooting team. Instead of driving hard to the basket, we pull up for 18-23 footers or 16-20 foot fall aways. And when our outside shot isn't falling, we are in huge trouble.

We shot 4-19 from 3's. Ray Allen choked, going 1-8 from 3's. KG all choked down the stretch, being soft and turning the ball over. I've been saying KG is overrated and shouldn't be considered for the MVP, now maybe people can finally see why I've been saying this.

Paul Pierce started out hot and faded away. I know he fouled out, see the 1st paragraph about the refs. But there is no excuse for Pierce to take 12 shots the entire game, 2 less than Rondo. Are you **** kidding me? :banghead: This is the 2nd time in the series were our best offensive player has taken less shots than Rondo. Great coaching, Doc.

Again, a combination of a bad coach and a lack of low post game means very low to no chance to a championship. If it wasn't for Tom Thibodeau and his defense, we would have been playing crapy like this the whole season. On offense, we are living by the 3 and dying by the 3.

We had over 40+ points in the paint this last game and you think we live and die by the 3?

Sorry dude....we obviously take a lot of jumpers when we have a zillion shooters on our teams who do from time to time take it to the basket but because the refs aren't willing to make calls and/or the C's are afraid of Smith blocking their shot they just don't take it to the rim consistently enough.

19 3s isn't really that much. IMO we didn't really take a ton of jumpers this game and drove every bit as much as the Hawks tonight including in the fourth quarter.

i have to agree with r2g. this team, especially "mr. intensity" is marshmallow soft. softness is about more than KG's pussified perimeter play. its about mental toughness. for someone who has built his career on "intensity," KG is really good at disappearing when his team needs him. i thought kg was going to prove me wrong last night and take over the game. i am very sad to say all was prove me right: he exposed himself as cowardly fraud.

He passed up 5-10 jump shots for posey's desperation threes. allen probably jacked up that three becuase he knew KG was too much a cowardly fraud to try take the game winning basket.

Again, I think the gameplan was to take the 3 pointer, based on how they actually set up shots for 3 pointers even when the game was within 2.

I know people hate talking about refs and FT but it really does matter. During the regular season ATL shot the 7th most FT and Boston the 9th at 27.2 and 26.5 FT respectively. In the playoffs Atl is blowing the FT numbers out of the water shotting 34 FTA average. This is 4 more than any team in the playoffs and 4 more than any team averaged in the regular season. Boston meanwhile is only shooting 22.2 a game That is by far the biggest differential of any two competing teams in the playoffs.

Observations like this are the main reason I want a guy like Brandon Rush on this team. We need someone that can score off the dribble and draw contact, and Rondo and Pierce are the only guys capable of doing it consistently (Tony used to be...)

so are you saying the FT differential is because the Cs aren't agressive enough and should drive and slash more like the Hawks or because of the refs?

Didn't we outscore the Hawks in the paint by quite a bit? I seem to remember a points in that paint stat that had the Celts ahead by 16 in the 4th quarter. I do think we've been a jump shooting team too much at times this season/series, but I don't think we were last night.

The points in the paint can be a little misleading because the Hawks drive it into the paint more. Because of this they get to the line more often. They are the more aggressive team and are getting rewarding by FREE throws.

Sure the refs have been bad, but the Hawks are forcing the refs to make the calls. We have been unable to force the refs to do the same because we mainly stay 18 feet or more away from the basket. We are lacking slashers and a low post presence.

It's not like he hasn't had games like that already this. But to answer your question, I hope never.
