Everyone blames Doc Rivers for this mess but the bottom line is KG, Pierce & Ray Allen are not good enough. They haven't been good enough in their careers and as of right now they still aren't good enough together.

This season was their chance to answer the critics and prove the doubters wrong. Again as of right now they are still the same KG, Pierce & Ray Allen unable to win in the playoffs.

The Big Three are the ones to blame not the coach, GM, fans, hotdog salesman etc.

Their only saving grace is that there is still time to get this done.

minny fan here trolling...I think you all have to realize that Atlanta is just plain is a match up problem for you. More specifically, Allen cannot guard Johnson, but if you put pierce on johnson, Ray Ray would have to guard marvin williams. (6-9 vs 6-4). If Ray is not going to hit his shots, than you might as well have posey start at SF and slide pierce to SG and have ray be the 6th man.

I am routing for KG, so I want to see you guys win it all. If they can handle business tonight, I think they match up better with the rest of the east and the west for that matter. The hawks just have a really unique (height wise) and young team that has nothing to lose and can survive off of chaos which would give many teams headaches.

Prefuse may be leaving, but he wasn't trolling. He's spot on. KG, PP and RA are good enough. The only problem is if the egos are so big and our investment in the 'Big 3' is so short-sighted that we can't make dire matchup adjustments that might offend them. I know TA's got his limitations and his play was pretty uneven all year, but we never really gave him a chance to handle JJ either. Instead we had RA playing more minutes than anyone.

It's not just the three that needs to step up, it is guys like Rondo, Perk, House, Tony Allen, Powe, the same guys that let other teams know they were on the court and team as well. All have contributed to the success of this team, but now they either haven't been there or have been sent to the bench. This is just as big a problem as we won all those games as a team, and not everyone is stepping up, or in Doc's case not playing the same people that got you here. The blame needs to go to the team and Doc as a whole, but like as said we will move on, I just hope they have learned from their lack of veteran intensity.

Funny how over 82 games they were good enough to have the best record in the league -- and now, not even out of the first round, they're not.

well i am pulling for the Hawks, i'd love to see them beat the Celtics...would make for a great story...but I also think that the Celtics will do just as they have done the last 3 times at home...

How do we know the Celtics will bring it in game 7? Everyone here thought the Celtics would bring it in games 3, 4, and 6 and look what happened.

As far as KG, PP, and RA go, I think that we're no better than any other year we've been in the playoffs. Think about for a minute, Pierce is the only guy that I have confidence in taking that last shot. KG is scared to death to take a shot in crunch time. He is flat out BETTER than anyone on the Hawks and needs to take the ball to the hoop. Screw the fadeaways and jump shots, just play on the block, get rebounds and layups.

I've been against Ray all year. He just doesn't fit in very well with this team, and after hearing that the final play was drawn up for KG and Ray took that three, it was the final nail in his coffin. That was selfish and you have to think that his only motivation was that he wanted to win the game himself.

Even though Pierce had some dumb moments last night, I still think that he's the only one mentally tough enough to make the big three work. If we lose though, I could see this offseason being very interesting, hopefully starting with a coaching change.

Pierce is the only guy on the Celtics that has a history of creating offense on his own. If he is too old, hurt or in foul trouble to do so in the playoffs this year, then the title of this thread is correct.

If Pierce gets back to attacking the rim, drawing defenders and getting to the line then guys like KG, Ray, Posey and Rondo will absolutely thrive. If they somehow get through this series I would look for Rondo in particular to step it up against Delonte and Boobie in the next round...

I agree with Celts17Pride. They aren't good enough by themselves to win a title.

During the season, I've said that KG is overrated. He is proving it in this series. He is averaging only 8.5 rebs per game and is not clutch down the stretch.

When I stated that they were past their prime, almost everyone attacked me. The fact is KG was better 2-5 years ago than he is now. Same can be said about Ray and Paul.

PGA's best years are behind them. During the regular season, how many times have PGA all played well in the same game? You can probably count that on 2 hands. They had relied too much on the role players to bail them out.

If PGA all play well in the same game, we can beat any team in this league. The problem is that they are not good enough to all play well at once on a consistant basis.

The playoffs are a lot different. It's the time where the stars have to step up more. And our main players have not, especially on the roaqd. Your window my by closing a lot faster than we thought.
