Your Celtics choice of player for MVP round by round

My choice for the Celtics from the first round is Rajon Rondo.

In six playoffs games...

31.0 MINS, .432 FG%, .750 FT%, 11.8 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 7.5 APG, 1.8 SPG and 1.1 TO

2007-2008 season averages

29.9 MINS, .492 FG%, .611 FT%, 10.6 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 5.1 APG, 1.7 SPG and 1.9 TO

In today's playoffs game...

29:47 minutes, 4-5 field goals, 2-2 free throws, 10 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and no turnovers.

Not bad for his playoffs debut and for a second-year player who was deemed the main question mark for Boston before the playoffs by the national pundits and local media.

Hopefully, Boston will make good on their home court advantage throughout the playoffs and I can give my choice of player MVP for each round before the NBA finals.

I'd go with Garnett, but I think there is a case for any of KG, Pierce or Rondo.

No one had a truly dominant series for us and sticks out as an easy winner, but KG led us in scoring, rebounding, PER and +/-. He also led us in steals, held Smith under 40% shooting in the end and chipped in with 4 assists per game to boot.

We couldn't do it without any of KG, pierce, or rondo

The team seems to struggle the most without Pierce on the court. For that reason I would go with Pierce as well.. Take the end of game 6 without Pierce - KG wasn't really able to step up.

Pete, you are 100% correct, as much as I want to vote for KG. Paul all the way. He's the go-to, slasher, get a bucket when they need one guy.

I can kind of forgive the late game T...only because the Cs won the series.

I'm going to go with Rondo on this one. He outplayed his counter part in every game but game 6. He's a steadying force during a hectic time.

KG would get my vote as well. Rebounding was the difference in this series. When the Cs won that battle, they won the game.

I'll give my vote to Kevin Garnett for this round.

Pierce. KG and others will tell you that.
