Did the series against the Hawks effect you?

Post#1 » by return2glory » Mon May 5, 2008 6:12 am

I was wondering if the series vs the Hawks effected anyone of you in any way. For me, I would have to say this series was hard on me. After Friday's lose in game 6, I couldn't sleep. I finally went to bed at 4 am.

Heading into Saturday, during the day I was keeping busy and not trying to think about the game on Sunday. I knew we had a good chance of winning game 7 because it was at home and since we didn't have to play 5 on 8 (the game ball in game 6 should have gone to the refs and the Hawk fans).

Come Saturday night, I was nervous and anxious for the game to start Sunday morning. There was still that small chance that we might lose because in one game, anything could happen. I couldn't sleep until 3 a.m. on this night.

I'm glad we won and the series is over. I haven't felt like this about a Celtic game since the late 80's. I was just wondering if it was tough like this for anyone else.

I feel you. I had trouble getting to sleep after the game 6 performance and I hate the feeling that you are one loss away from elimination. Even though it was the hawks, I feel like a big weight has been lifted off my back.

I am glad that this next series will be an every other day kind of deal because my emotions are directly affected by this team. My heart is truly in it. Tomorrow will be a long day, but at least talk radio and stuff will have a more positive vibe.

Never had a problem. I believed in the team. Even if they had lost, at the end of the day it's just a game, life will go on.

The Celtics 7 games to finish off the Hawks changed my thinking of them.

Coming into the Playoffs, I felt that the Celtics were superior to the Lakers evident by the pure beating put on the Lakers twice this year. However, seeing the Celtics recent struggles to close, I no longer think they are the clear cut favorites.

It seems to be true, KG and Ray Allen are great regular season players but not in the post-season. Rondo has returned back to ordinary.

I was worried before that the Lakers would whup the Lakers in the Finals but if both teams make it there this year, I'm no longer concerned.

It affected me a little bit until I started thinking what if they swept the hawks and didnt endure pressure only to lose in the 2nd rd to LBJ.. This will make the Celts think twice about the letdowns that they've had in the season and that during the playoffs it's all out every game

This is called beating yourself in the sports world. I wouldn't make too much of the Hawks series.. If the C's pound Cleveland or Detroit people will be singing a new tune.

The series has made me seriously doubt the Celtics can get out of the second round -- where before I thought, at the very least, they would be competitive in the Eastern Conference Finals.

It's been a rollercoaster ride. I was a little depressed after game 3 - but not worried, I had an 8 hour drive home sunday after going to the game - which game me a lot of time to get my brooding over with. After games 4 and 6 though I was worried. I've lost quite a bit of confidence in the team now.

A sweep of Cleveland would be just the thing to realign my mood

It was frustrating to say the least, but it hasn't altered my perception. I've been cautiously optimistic. I think this series drove home a belief I've held throughout, that Ray Allen is the littlest of the Big 3 and is only really Big when his shot is on from the perimeter. Whereas, KG and Pierce are much more multi-facetted and can make significant contributions in other ways beyond perimeter shooting.

What I think should be appreciated from this series is how difficult a matchup Atlanta was from a length and athleticism standpoint. It was disconcerting that the Big 2 became mentally unhinged at times. But, on the other hand, the poise Rondo showed was very encouraging.

The positive side going forward is that the Celts will not encounter another opponent who can throw out two 6'8+ high twitch athletes at them to completely obliterate Ray Allen defensively. KG had to be WAY too aware of Joe Johnson and Al Horford, along with Smith of course, because of the superior length and/or quickness they had on Allen and Perk respectively. Perk played as well as could be expected and I thought he did a great job playing under control. But he was outclassed at times from an athleticism standpoint.

It didn't affect my sleeping as I was having a few cocktails throughout, but it definitely affected my moods. Also for the Laker fan saying Rondo returned to ordinary; Have you watched any of the games? When Rondo is in, he makes a huge difference. That is hardly ordinary. He had an ordinary game 6, but other than that, he has been pretty impressive.

This is my attitude. I have adopted it after the Pats Super Bowl loss this year, which bugged the crap out of me for days until I realized, hey, those guys are still rich beyond belief while I bust my arse struggling to support my family and use sports as a pastime for enjoyment. Put it into perspective for me, and thus even though I was pissed the C's lost game 6, I slept like a baby!

I was upset(very upset) for the calls down in Atlanta, just this, after the 6th I was pretty sure we were going to destroy ATL in game 7, were I was really worried was after game 3.

I don't think a team like LA can match us, I'm more worried about SA, NO and DET. The only thing that really worries me about LA are Da Fish and Vujacic. 40 minutes of Kobe and 40 of Gasol simply mean that they are gonna get a bit tired in close and long series, plus they got a negative balance only vs. Celtics, Cavs and Rockets. In our games Vs. the Lakers we got 16 pts differential...

Luckily I haven't lost any sleep. I've felt bummed about the losses since I was expecting an easier road against the 8 seed though. I was busy after game 6 so I was distracted and drunk and didn't think a lot about it thankfully. Plus since we never trailed in the series there wasn't any feelings of desperation or anything for me. The playoffs are rough though.

I hear you on the playoffs being rough. At least the C's have the option of shaking off bad games in the playoffs, though, unlike in football where the Pats only got the one shot!

Don't worry the celtics are still superior to you lakers

It seems to be true, KG and Ray Allen are great regular season players but not in the post-season. Ray is still an extraordinary clutch performer. KG I do have my doubts. Rondo hander out 50 dimes on 10 turnovers. that is a 5:1 ratio, menas he is nasty. Oh yeah and he completely destroyed Bibby. Rondo has returned back to ordinary.

That is the great thing about basically most sports besides football. The better team usually will come out on top in a series. In football the Pats might win 9 out of 10 games, but you only get 1 loss. I'd like to think we'll be the best team so hopefully we get it done.

Rondo's A/TO ratio was 7.3/1

He's definitely playing better than in the regular season. He's dishing out a full 2.2 more APG in the same amount of minutes.

^^Agreed. Does anyone in their right mind believe if the Giants and Pats played 5 games, the Giants would win more than 2? No way.

I think the C's will beat Cleveland in 5 or 6. Bank on it!
