Dear Rajon Rondo:

Post#1 » by kmgarnett21 » Wed May 7, 2008 4:28 pm

We all love you! you have been playing great, especially in game one vs the cavs....now, PLEASE don't get discouraged b/c your idiot head coach is sitting you down in the 2nd half/4th quarter. I know I personally want you to get more playing time. even tho cassell had a big game last night, he is killing the team. he takes away shots from ray & he's messing with chemistry to a certain extent.

this is jus a thread appreciating & backing rajon. he has been HUGE! at the start of the season, all the criticism was on rondo, & he has answered all the questions with great performances. please doc! play rondo! he defends better, he runs the team better, he gets others involved. sam jus dribbles & dribbles & shoots. we're lucky he was on last night, or else it wouldve been an ugly result.

KEEP IT UP RONDO!!!!

Props to Rajon.

But he really seems to have abandoned his jump shot. And after the first Q, the Cavs clogged the middle and Rajon took himself out of the offense. We're going to need his jump shot to win this series, because the Cavs aren't going to give anything easy inside.

I have to say that Rondo does need to look to shoot more often. He has developed a nice little mid range shot and if they take away driving to the inside and leave him space to shoot then sometimes he should look for his own shot. I dont mind him shooting the occasional 3 either and hope that becomes part of his game.

Of course, because it is Doc's fault that Rondo wasn't taking any open J's.

Rondo was awesome, and he probably has NO confidence issues because there was NOTHING sinister in Doc sitting him for a stretch...especially since Rondo didn't do **** in the 2nd half.

I agreed with the move to keep Cassell in as well. Rondo didn't do anything (good or bad really, he was just too passive and almost invisible out there) in the 2nd half and Cassell, while I hate his style as a Celtic, was hitting his shots and we really needed his scoring in there with no one but KG scoring.

Rondo has been benched before in favor of Sam in key moments before and he responded. We signed Cassell and the next game Rondo posts a career high in assists and plays great. This kid isn't a pussy, he knows how good he is and he's going to be just fine.

Delonte just isn't quick enough to cover him, so if he stays aggressive like he did in the 1st half...he's going to have some big games for us this series.

From a talent/experience standpoint, so would I. From a playing within the team concept that was cultivated all season long, his act is wearing a bit thin

Doc didn't do the right thing at all last night. There is no rule that Says Ray and Paul have to play no matter how bad they are playing. All Doc had to do last night was put rondo in with Sam. If ever there was a backcourt you could get away with that against it Clevelands'.

I agree. I guess he hoped that they would get it going if he left them in. Taking Pierce out due to fouls early on ended up being a great thing though because Posey was doing everything right out there. He should have gone back to Posey earlier in the 2nd half once it was obvious that Pierce wasn't going to get it going and yeah if Ray is having a bad night go ahead and try something else. It is about winning right now and you dont want to take any chances losing playoff games.

^ It didn't hurt us in the end but I was pretty stunned when Doc put Paul back in on one of the final possession for Posey while we were on the defensive end.

rondo didnt do **** in the 2nd half b/c he didnt play in the 2nd half but a few minutes. i admit, w/o Cassell, we dont win, but who knows what rondo could have done? get a few shots for ray/pp probably.

all i know is that ever since cassell got here, ray allen has struggled. i'm all good with playin cassell & i'm glad we brought him in for occasions last night, but he's killin a lil of the chemistry & makin ray allen a non factor. although, i do admit i'd rather have him up at the free throw line over anyone else on the team.

its jus a weird thing right now. rondo's playin great yet it seems like he has the shortest leash i've ever seen.

The reason was that Doc didn't want to have to call a timeout if they scored (which Z did), he wanted to be able to run directly into our offense because that would mean Brown couldn't dub O-for-D. That's how we ended up with KG being guarded by Joe Smith for the GW shot. Big Ben may not be DPOY material anymore but he's damn sight better than Joe Smith, and KG got to the rim easily. Posey is marginally better on D but he is not nearly the threat on offense.

I agree...especially since Posey was shooting it much better than Paul in addition to the defense!

You could be right. To be honest I don't remember the situation too well other thinking why would he sub PP for Posey.

Yeah I'm surprised at the "Rondo didn't do anything in the 2nd half:" comments. He didn't get much PT and we didn't run the offense through him at all. I remember b/c I was getting pretty upset at the Pierce and Allen miscues and thinking thats why you need to let Rondo make the plays.
