I SHOULD'VE CALLED IT!

Post#1 » by nasbahceltic » Thu May 8, 2008 2:42 am

I knew as soon as Garnett called everyone else onto the court when he was awarded DPOY that Kobe would do the same thing if he got MVP so he could seem like he was "Mr. Team" just like KG. What a loser!

I hate all all-stars an superstars, they try to act sincere and humble around cameras, but at times their true ego-centered and selfishness appears.

I like to root for average players or scrubs who give 100% effort every night, like a Glen Davis or a Derek Fisher.

i didn't see him tonight, but don't all past mvp's go to the middle of the court, hold onto the trophy as the crowd cheers and then motion for their teammates to join them?

i recall kg doing that in clips back in minny in 04?

didn't nash to a similar thing a few years ago? so lets not get picky. but again, i didn't see kobe do it tonight.

but what truly bothers me is whenever he is talking about the mvp award, before he received it, he said that now since nash won the award, its about making your teammates better, and how it is an honour because he feels like he makes his teammates better.

is it just me or is that a load of crap? isn't it really that his teammates have gotten better in the offseason through hard work, a gasol trade - and now bryant learning after 12 seasons to finally pass the ball. since when did he turn into nash or chris paul?

there i said it. good for him for getting the mvp. but he's getting it for being an outstanding player on a really good team. not because he passes the ball like Nash.

i have hard time believing you can make your teammates better just a few months after belittling them. i think its the other way around. his teammates make him look better. whatever kobe. go on with your bad stuff. :P

More Kobe hate. How original.

Is KG really the first person to dedicate his individual award to his teammates? Really? Please. If Kobe is a douchebag and phony and an **** for this then so is KG.

Wasn't KG just traded out of Minnesota? Are we to believe that he had nothing at all to do with that? Please. What is wrong with wanting to get out of a seemingly bad situation? KG wants to win. Kobe wants to win. These guys are independent contractors.

Kobe hate goes way WAY beyond the copy-cat celebration.

The guy is one of the most unlikeable athletes around. His own teammates hate him, for goodness sake. And this is not some manufacutred or generic "i hate kobe because he's kobe" thing. The idiot has given everyone plenty of reason to dislike him.

He's a poser, he's completely disingenuous, he's self-centered, and he's put off by success in others. All that before you even get to what he did to Shaq in Colorado ("but officer, Shaq does this all the time . . ")

So no, Kobe hate is not original, but it is well deserved.

He has a big ego. He slept with some girl in Colorado. He asked to be traded from the Lakers.

Seems pretty benign to me.

Why does everyone hate Kobe?

Like, everyone thinks they know him as a person and ****. He's disingenuous, his teammates hate him, blah blah blah. What? How do you know?

I'm just kinda indifferent to the typical athlete personality, unless he's really cool or so obviously an **** which I don't think Kobe is. Kobe just seems like a typical athlete, except people compare him to Michael Jordan and he plays in the largest market so he has more exposure. And people hate this...?

I don't think it's the rape case. I think most people think that was mostly a joke. Is it that he asked to be traded? Don't a ton of athletes do this? I don't think people have this undying hatred for Chad Johnson, for instance, and he's like 500 million times more vocal about wanting to leave Cincy than Kobe ever was about leaving LA.

Comparing KG to Kobe should be an automatic ban as a Celtic fan. And you're supposed to be a mod? Disgraceful on your part BG... :noway:

Why must everything here be so god damn biased? Because I make a post here I have to hate Kobe? Why is it impossible to have a coherent conversation without all this unnecessary garbage being thrown around? It's really annoying. Everyone in the NBA is against the Celtics. David Stern hates the Celtics. Kobe is an ****. I hate Ricky Davis's game. Oh wait, he just got traded here, get buckets! I hate KG. His intensity is fake. He's a loser, always will be. Oh wait, he just got traded here. I love KG. What an intense player!

Kobe is an elite basketball player, perhaps the best the basketball, though I would disagree there. Why must we psychoanalyze everything? What do you want him to say, "I'm the greatest, I carry these ****. Sasha Vujacic? LOL, that white boy can't play. I carry his ass." C'mon.

He's playing with a torn ligament in one of his fingers right now. And dominating in the playoffs. Give the guy a break. We should be applauding a guy who wants to win so much in a day where athletes get their money and then shut down. Go bitch at Zach Randolph and say how **** a person he is.

Maybe you guys just know more about Kobe than I do. I guess I just don't care that he wanted to leave the Lakers. No one thought they'd be any good this year, right? I can understand I guess. If you care about athletes using the media to their advantage--cool beans. Rock on, we'll just have to disagree.

Just wanted to get that off my chest. Carry on.

If that's all it were, it would be pretty benign.

Let's see - here are just a FEW things he's done recently: He went to the media calling his GM an idiot, he went on record saying that Andrew Bynum sucks, he threw Shaq under the bus when he felt the heat in Colorado, he falsly accused Karl Malone of going after his wife, he has pretended for years to "speak Italian" (he doesn't), he promised he'd never return to the Lakers, only to claim yesterday he wants to be a Laker for life.

Don't get me wrong - Kobe's the MVP. He's the best player without a doubt. But he's a very unlikeable guy and you'd never want him as a friend (I hear he doesn't have any).

So, the comparison to Garnett is pretty misplaced.

I hear what you're saying ... and you're right that the notion that KG is a saint and Kobe is the devil is obviously ridiculous, and more descriptive of a fundamental Celtics mega-fan. Additionally, you're correct that KG calling others over to hold the award isn't original, and thus doesn't make it less original for Kobe. HOWEVER:

Kobe really is far more disingenuous than most ego-ridden superstars. Months ago he said he'd rather play on the MOON than for the Lakers, now of course he wants to be with the Lakers the rest of his life. If he really just "wanted to win" and "get out of a bad situation," he could have just as easily kept his concerns, or even his wishes to be traded IN HOUSE. Bitching and moaning to the media didn't help anybody but Kobe's ego. It wasn't like a slip of the tongue either. He made a statement, retracted the statement, MADE THE STATEMENT AGAIN, then later basically indicated he was moving on.

going back and forth about who is right is pointless because nobodies opinion is changing, you know what i mean

And to be fair, hating Kobe was never meant to be "original." On the contrary, hating Kobe is traditional.
