The only reason I can think of that he is in there so much- Doc doesn't have faith in Rondo or TA.
It's a bad reason in my opinion, Doc is the reason for wrecking what confidence these guys had. It's not like they haven't earned the time. Rondo proved he's up to the challenge for the playoffs by dominating Bibby in the first two games in the Atlanta, TA hasn't even been given the opportunity.
We have to watch Cassel chucking them up, and be a turnstile on defence.
Were not getting anything from Cassel that we can't get from Pierce, Garnett or Ray Allen. We don't need his offence that bad.

The fact is we're going to need Rondo's and TA defensive ability if we can get by Cleveland. The upcoming point guards we might face are only going to be better, much better.
Who's going to stop them, 38 old Sam platooning with Rondo.

Sam is playing too much. I don't know why Doc fell in love with him all of a sudden when we did just fine without him in the regular season. He kills all flow of the offense and offers nothing on D. If his shot isn't falling, he's useless.

Cassell is averaging 15.5 minutes. Maybe it's a little too much (probably should be closer to 12-14), it's hardly crazy.

The crazier thing is Rondo's playing time. It's actually gone DOWN, from 30 mpg during the regular season to 29.2 mpg in the postseason.

Isn't he postseason the time when starters log the most minutes? If anything, he should be getting 35 mpg.

Rondo has played less in games where he's sucked. You can't just play starters because they're starters. Sam is like the lottery, he can suck for 10 minutes then explode for the next 5. And his D isn't as bad as I thought it would be, he's actually done a better job staying with DW than Rondo this series imo.

I think 30 mins of Rondo and 15 mins of Sam is about right, with Eddie in there on spot occasions.

I'd like to see more Eddie House. If it wasn't broken in the regular season, why fix it in the playoffs?

I'm fine with Sam around 15 minutes a game. Now he's had some very bad games in the postseason, but he's also been huge for the team as well.

As for Rondo, I don't think he's earned more minutes. He's played sloppy and he can't knock down a jumpshot. If anything I would mind seeing House in there more either.

Of course, he's playing way too much. Cassell's minutes should go to House and TA, unless everyone else is dead or in foul trouble. The ratio of good to bad moments for Cassell is too small to warrant his getting any PT. The odds of Cassell doing something horrible is far greater than his doing nothing or something positive.

At this point, I'd be happy to see Cassell do nothing while he's out there than do what he's been doing.

Cassel only got into three games this season. He threw a pick that got returned for a touchdown against the Dolphins and ran looking like Forrest Gump for a touchdown against Washington. I'm happy with his playing time right now.

I don't mind when doc takes Rondo out for not playing well or hitting shot but do the same to Ray when he is not hitting shots and but TA in. And when doc takes Rondo out don't keep him out for the rest of the quater.
