Why Can Cassell Shoot Better With Clippers Than Celtics

Field Goal Percentage
2008 with the Clippers: 45.5%
2008 with the Celtics: 38.5%
2008 playoffs: 34.7%

Strange numbers, he can shoot better if Mobley and Ross are on the floor than he can when Garnett, Pierce or R Allen are out there with him.

Cassell has always been a great shooter, one of the better point guards for field goal percentage. Brand wasn't even playing for the Clippers when Cassell was shooting 45.5%, which might have helped him shoot an even higher percentage. Maybe it is the coach in Boston, but something has sent his percentage down after joining the Celtics.

On the Clippers he was more of a play maker. On this team apparently his role is to just be clutch, so he seems to think that means that the only way he can help is when he makes shots.

The Clippers didn't just suck; with the injuries to Shaun Livingston and Elton Brand,
the Clips were somewhere between hopeless and lost.

So, opposing teams just let the Old Man shoot, whether it was out of pity,
or simply thinking that it didn't matter because
"we're going to win anyway, so who cares if Old Man Cassell makes a few."
