I Just Made a Rash Decision

My cousin, brother and I have said all playoffs long that we were going to Detroit to see the Celts play in the ECF's. We live in Boston.

I just pulled the trigger on some pretty good tickets for their Home Game 1.

So that's it. If we make it there I'm going on a road trip to Detroit to see the boys play. Even if we don't make it I figure I will be able to do decent selling them on ebay.

Should I be nervous? Detroit just got rated the most dangerous city in America. Auburn Hills is a nice neighborhood, though, isn't it? Should we bring protection? (not trojans)

Well, here's to hoping we make it there...and back.

They built their "Palace" a long way outside of Detroit for a reason. So it is safe to go to games there, as long as Dennis Rodman is not in the carpark. The few times I have been there I have always looked to see if he was in a vehicle there but he has moved on to warmer places, somewhere in California.

In case you don't know, make sure your windows are up and doors are locked. There is no reason to stop in Detroit so keep going until you get to Auburn Hills.

The Pontiac Silverdome is not far from the Palace, it is a big historical landmark now, but you can drive past and see where Bird played a few games against the evil Laimbeer, Thomas and Mahorn.

There used to be quite a few vocal Celtics fans in attendance at Pistons home games against Boston. Although it seems to be a more angry Pistons crowd than it used to be. The popcorn there was always quite tasty and if you walk around the venue they have some displays of their, unimpressive, history.

I have not said anything bad about that state and its biggest and scariest city but if you want me to I can tell you about some vacations, that visited some of the plight-affected spots of Detroit and the surrounding area, there was plight everywhere.

I could tell you this one story, it is funny because it is true, but better not.

I also just realized I am going to miss my college graduation to go to this game. Haha

Auburn Hills is fine...

I've been to 22 Pistons home games this year and I'm still alive....

Than again, I wasn't wearing Celtic gear : )

Wasn't Detroit labeled "Murdertown USA" for something like 10 years in a row at one point?

One of my best friends is from Michigan and said Detroit is the worst place on Earth he'd ever been to, and this is a guy who has been all over the world to some SKETCHY places.

Michigan/Detroit and the surrounding area also have the highest concentration of "religion of peace" followers and terrorist cells (and all of their shenanigans (LOADS of local crimes)) in the country, so be careful...

And don't worry, college graduation stinks anyway...I skipped mine, only went when I got my PhD, not Bachelor's...

^^Yes. And honestly graduation for your bachelor's is no big deal...unless you go to a small school they don't call your name, you don't go on stage, and no one knows who the hell you are except your family in the stands. And they mail your diploma to you like 3 months later. That's why I skipped. I went for my PhD graduation because I got hooded on stage and my name was called out and I got my diploma right there. It was special.

You do know that all Arabs are not Muslims - especially in the States. <g> I love these politically correct lecturers who don't know what they are talking about..

You would do well to research more into the views of muslim fundamentalists before declaring we have nothing to fear from them, IMHO.

Personally I fear ANY fundamentalists- except for Buddhists. Fundamentalists exhibit numerous problems for people in today's society..
