The induna prances up and down the pitch.

Then he bellows, his finger right up against the nose of the enemy, in isiZulu: "Niyabasaba na? (Are you afraid of them?)

The amabutho (the team/warriors) beating their chests, respond, with flames of determination in their eyes, gesticulate to the opposition: "Hhayi asibesabi siyabafuna. (No, we aren't, bring them on).

This is a traditional Zulu war cry, designed to boost the confidence of the warriors.

In sporting terms, the war cry has been used as a motivational tool, designed to pump up the team and strike fear into the opposition.

The song also gives the players or warriors courage to move forward and crush the enemy. It's also a source of comradely spirit uniting the players or warriors.

God I would love for us to break on through tonight. Winning in Cleveland would carry this team on an emotional high, this is a battle, handle business. Otherwise, it's gonna be a War in game 7. Exert the energy tonight and pull it out. If that happens I like our chances of riding an emotional high into Boston on Sunday.

We want D-troit!
