A little credit to Ray...

Post#1 » by chakdaddy » Mon May 19, 2008 12:14 am

For getting benched for most of the 4th quarter, then coming in cold and burying the FT's.

I remember a really similar situation against Cleveland in November, when he had 2 chances to ice the game, missed them both, Pavlovic hit the 3 to send it overtime and we lost.

That said, he sure has been awful. But I think he needs to have some more plays run for him, he doesn't have much role otherwise. The commentators mentioned earlier they were double teaming him a lot?? I hadn't really noticed that.

I feel like he needs to have a big series against Hamilton, or at least try to get established. He's due to get hot...that's a luxury with our "big 3" that I don't think we've exploited - on any given day, one of them should be hot. Today was Pierce's day; but I fear that we'll let a hot day from Ray come and go without ever giving him a chance.

Doc has worn out Ray this post season...he needs to use some TA in the next round and give Ray a little rest on D.

What CLE did a great job of is not letting Ray get off of picks. I think Ray will be okay what is important for this team to figure out is how it is going to get somebody going up front. I don't care who it is Perk, PJ, Powe, Davis but one of those guys has got to get it going offensively or we are going to end up with Paul playing the point and a lot of jumpshots.

The commentators were great across the board tonight. But that observation on Ray really stood out. I hadn't realized that Cleveland was working so hard to defend him even as he remained cold.

**** Ray Allen. He is a **** choker. He has gotten worse and worse as the playoffs have gone on. He deserves no credit. If that mucker **** can't make 2 free throws and he shouldn't be on this roster because he hasn't been giving some ****.

All the credit goes to Paul Pierce who stepped up big time. He was amazing. A lot of credit should also go to P.J. Brown. Doc deserves some credit for this game as well.

House hussled like crazy. Rondo choked. KG did his disappearing act in big games again. Perkins was descent at best. Posey was ok.

Pierce carried everyone today.

I'm smiling. And no I'm not negative. I have the right to say Ray Allen is a choker and he sucked. An all star player, getting about $15 millon a year had only 4 points in a game 7.

I'm happy we won. I'm happy for P.J. Brown, Eddie House for his hussle, for our fans and for Paul Pierce.

KG did his disappearing act in big games again.

Yea, this brings KG's career averages in Game 7s down to 21, 15, and 3. What a bum.

Ray is either hurting or is in the mother of all slumps. A guy doesn't suddenly forget how to shoot wide open shots.

That said, the Cavs rarely left Ray open, regardless of how bad he was shooting. That spacing is pretty critical for guys like Pierce who need open lanes.

Your really right, Ray has sucked. Which sucks because I like Ray Allen. Class act, great player. But he just has hadn't it in the playoffs.

If he is in a shooting slump, that is understandable. That happens to the best of them. But Ray needs to go to the basket and get closer looks. He can't even do that. That's the frustrating part. Also, if he is struggling, he needs to help out in other ways like passing, playing D, and rebounding. He isn't doing that either.

true they were doubleing Ray Allen but a good player will figure out how to deal with it. He had wide open looks that he flat out missed and if you cant shoot it figure out something else. The Cavs shut down Caron Butler too in the previous round but he figured it out and turned it around. I can give the cavs D some credit for making Allen a non factor, but he was a total non factor.

For you to beat Detroit he will need to wake up cos Prince is conna make it hard for Pierce and Sheed will keep KG in check...Allen will have to be the difference maker.

Returntoglory you are 100% right and i am sick of everyone trying to defend ray. He had 4 points in a game 7! And has played soft all year, ESP.in the playoffs. Wally Fricken szczerbiak outplayed him on both ends people. I have lost all faith in ray and his "sweet stroke" hopefully he will prove me wrong the rest of the playoffs because this team really needs him to step up his game.

We might need to put Ray down at this point.

Oh and he gave up an and one to LeBron AGAIN today. Unfreakingbelieveable, you would think he would learn how to foul properly after having this happen every single game! Nope, Ray likes to play slapsies.

We are all watching Ray suck and it may just be that he cannot play on the wing. He cannot dribble past a single defender (even Wally), and he kills the offense when he gets double teamed by either dribbling back to midcourt or throwing the ball way.

And I do not want to hear the lame excuse that they do not run plays for him. They set staggered picks for him and he cannot lose his man and he cannot turn the corner when he gets the ball so again he dribbles towards midcourt.

Doc must change how he uses Ray. Use him the set picks and roll. Use him to post up a few times. Just get him off the 3-pt line or sit him.
