Bird always credited his assistants for the success he had as coach. Maybe you want his assistants instead?

No, Doc coached fine today and Bird is nothing special. Too many people on this board think Bird has the Midas touch. He was a great player, but that doesn't not translate to coaching and Front Office work.

Dick Harter? We have a great defensive team that executes well offensively, this team reflects the coach and while it isn't always pretty it is pretty damn effective and what has lead to championships recently.
Larry was a great offensive player who played hard on defense, but during his coaching career he got by on guys like Reggie Miller and Jalen Rose. While great offensive players not defensive talents. His Pacers were not a very good defensive team for a finals contestant.

Larry Bird is a pretty good coach and He helped lead the pacers to the finals as coach if im not mistaken he needs to have some say in boston although indiana means something to as he played college ball and I think thats where he grew up as well.

I'm pretty sure Rick Carlisle was Bird's assistant along with Harter.

Yes he was but I don't think Mark Cuban would appreciate you poaching his Head Coach. Then again the Pacers wouldn't likely like us trying to steal their GM, unless of course he plans on adding to his roster of guys who look, play, and jump like me, then they may thank us.

even more ideal would be Larry as head coach, Rick Carlisle and ML Carr as assistants..... though thats not happening haha.

Larry doesn't want to coach.......he's not as good as Danny as a GM so what would he do???

What more can you ask from your head coach (I am not a Doc lover) but one has to be fair....best record in the league.....so far ECF.. 4 wins away from the Championship. The players love him. What else do you looking for....or should I ask...what does Doc lack that you are seeking??? He sucked it up and coached a kiddie team like the org. asked was rewarded with this veteran team now he has produced what he has produced and we fire him.

Agreed. Larry himself has admitted he was never an X's and O's coach...Carlisle did that for him in Indy.
So predictable...people here bellyache all the time that Doc is not an X's and O's coach, yet they clamor for Larry, who probably did actually less "coaching" than Doc does.
And this is coming from someone who grew up with Larry as his favorite Celtic player and also supports Doc.
