The same people who continually say "Well the C's haven't won on the road yet" and somehow translate that into "They will not win a game on the road" DO NOT translate "Well the C's haven't lost at home yet" into "The C's will not lose at home yet".

I wonder why

They also ignore that the Celtics are 29-0 (after today) in Game 7s after leading 3-2, so if each series hold trues to the 1st 2 then there's no way they can lose...RIIIIGHT guys?

But no, that too is ignored...convenient.

You are no God. We had to hold off those hungry young teams. Detroit couldn't handle Lebron last year but we did. The Red Sox set a record against the Yankees in 2004. There is always the first time.

Each series is a completely different animal anyways. Does it matter what we did against Atlanta or Cleveland when we face Detroit? Not in the least. The series is a whole new season, who knows how it plays out.

Because no team has ever won a championship after winning consecutive 7-game series.

Because this team has legs that get older by the game (Ray Allen).

Because the Celtics will face a team that is good enough to beat them at home (Detroit).

Because the disparity between their performances at home and on the road is so large it makes one question if they couldn't beat lesser competition on the road against weaker crowds (Atlanta, Cleveland) for what reason do you have faith they can do it against stronger teams and louder crowds (Detroit, Los Angeles)?

It's not some nitpicking argument. It's a very blatant problem that every objective NBA observer has made to this point.

No one wants the Celtics to lose. They're demanding they play to the level on the road they did for an entire NBA season. And if they can't replicate that success on the road in the playoffs there's a major problem that needs correction this offseason.

Right -- and we faced Cleveland after a 7-game series with little rest inbetween and nearly lost Game 1. Now we face a better team that has enjoyed a week of rest -- the Celtics will have a day off.

What happened before matters.

Nearly don't mean squat, what matters is W's and L's. Sure, fatigue could be a factor, but frankly I doubt it. You don't know that it will be any more than you know whether Detroit will have trouble shaking off the rust and knocking down shots. It's a whole new series against a whole new team, no one can predict what will happen, I'll gladly take my chances with the Celtic's, they are still the best team in the league this year. A series win is a series win, no one will remember anything except who comes out on top. We've won without playing our best basketball, who knows, maybe we'll hit our stride on offense again.

From the outside looking in, I agree with spf211.

The Celtics were the most feared team coming into the post-season, and I think that perception has changed somewhat. As a Lakers fan, I'd still hate to see them, but based on what I've seen they don't scare me nearly as much.

Having said that, take care of Detroit and no one will really care where you win, although I'd rather you guys lose because we definitely match up better with the Pistons.

C's are fine. Let me tell you I think they had some "statistic" about how teams that go 7 on the first series never get past the second.. I guess ESPN won't be plugging that anymore..

Just like the Giants had "no chance" against the Patriots and so on. I will say it again..

Past Performance is no guaranteed of future results. It doesn't matter if a team has never won without winning a road game. That statistic could easily be a fluke rather then anything important.

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. I can't stand when people bring up meaningless stats such as "no team has ever won a title without winning a road game," well none of those failing teams were the 2007-2008 Boston Celtics. It would have more validity if we had lost that way for the past three years, but the examples that are used are teams that are in no way related to the Celtics. Who cares that some team in the 80s lost in the ECF or finals after going 7 every series, there's not a single player from that team on this one. It's asinine that "proof" of the Celtics impending doom is the lack of sucess from teams that don't even have the same jersey colors.
