Did I miss the train on something here? I don't mean that as a rhetorical statement, I honestly feel like I may have missed something. Why oh why is Carmelo Anthony surfacing in trade rumors all of a sudden? I mean I saw the first one and felt it was utterly irresponsible speculation "Nuggets may be open to shopping Anthony" I'm sure you could say that about a lot of players in the NBA and have your name attached to it ... But now we're seeing names involved (albeit attached to miracle draft lottery scenarios). Why after acquiring Allen Iverson would they feel the need to shop the younger player?

no genius needed here, simply an organization either trying to send a message to an immature athlete whom by all accounts can't stay out of trouble or they are fed up and wabt to actually get rid of him.

I guess I underestimated how big a drag he was ... I always knew he was immature, but not to the point of them wanting to shop him out of town.

I never really liked the guy that much. To me his game reminds me a bit of Walker's - call me crazy. But I do see similiarities

He is a young Paul Pierce's twin. I can't get over how similar there games are, at the same point in there careers.

I agree with you, Pete....he's a damn good player but not a super-duper star like Kobe, LeBron, or even Pierce. Very one-dimensional game (scoring)

i dont really think hes all that one deminesional... i mean he did average 7.5 rebouds a game as a SF .. there arnt a lot of SF's that averaged that many rebounds per gane

I think they're just fed up with his off the court antics. He needs to clean up his act. As far as his talent, no way he is overrated. He is a a very good player who could grow to being great. He hasn't stopped getting better. Did anyone here watch him in the FIBA games last summer? He was nearly unstoppable. I guess if the Nets get a top pick in the draft he could be bound for New Jersey. After this past off season and regular season, it seems GM's are more open to doing blockbuster trades for stars. It could be another interesting summer of trades.

No he wasn't, imo. He also played defense, which people seem to forget. Carmelo never played any D.

Exactly. I don't know where all this "Pierce never played defense before KG arrived" BS came from, but he has always been an above-average defender...he's just better now!

'Melo is in the top 3 most talented offensive players in the world, he seriously has everything. If he's being shopped, his issues must extend further than just the public stuff that has come out.

To me Carmelo is the Glenn Robinson of his draft. The guy everyone thought was great, a fantastic scorer, but ultimately not a great player because he couldn't really do much else. I'd take Lebron, Bosh, and Wade over him at this point, even with Wade's injuries.

^^No doubt I'd take any of those 3 over Carmelo also. And that doesn't even take into account his personal issues...

The problem with Anthony is that as talented as he is he is also an enigma. He doesn't seem that engaged, he doesn't show up every night and he doesn't play defense. He isn't a leader and he doesn't make his teamates better. The duo of him and Iverson is a defensive nightmare that is compounded by having to use a PG with them because Anthony has very little passing ability. He did do a good job of improving his shooting and rebounding and the Nugs may be thinking that it is only going down from here and Camby and AI only have so much left in the tank.

Camby being included makes no sense but sending Melo to NJ for a package that includes Richard Jefferson would minimize the scoring loss and add a very good defender and shooter. They can also look at lineups that put AI back at the point with K-Mart at the SF spot that would make them imposing defensively as opposed to pathetic.

Melo for RJ/Marcus Williams and the Nets draft pick would seem to make sense for both sides assuming NJ has someone to take Wince off their hands, imagine him and Melo on the same team.

I think he is less like PP and more like Bernard King (sorry kids, I go back a ways). He is a pure scorer who can beat you inside or outside, off the dribble or back you down. If he can grows up and matures a little he will be a great player. Having him paired with AI is probably not a great idea though at this stage of his life.

Easy answer... The Nuggets are a garbage organization.

It's like trying to understand the moves Zeke made in NY, or why/how he kept his job... it simply can't be done.

Hey man I go back, too! I agree with the Bernard comparison, although I think Bernard was a better player.
