I'd noticed the home announcer list Perkins as such during the announcement of the starting line ups in the past two playoffs games. I thought Perkins was more like 6'9'', actually.

I chuckled at that as well.

Ive always seen Perk listed at 6'10''. I was surprised when they mentioned 6'11'' in the first game against ATL.

One never knows about height. Wingspan, standing reach, positioning, and hops are probably more important. Perk has 2 of the 4 all the time and he positions himself much better now that Clifford Ray has had time with him.
Perk has hops only in his beer.
Perk loses an inch or two in measured height because he has a no-neck body but I can't see that makes any difference on the court.

When he drafted Perk, Ainge said he was 6

John Calipari liked him
Kendrick Perkins, C: "Will go in the first round. He's about 6-10, but his wingspan makes him roughly 7-4. People are questioning his lift and his body, et cetera. But he has an unbelieveable, competitive spirit. He lost about 25 pounds in the last month just to show his dedication. And there just aren't that many big guys out there. He's a beautiful kid who says yes sir and no sir. He does whatever you want. Incredible attitude."

Damn thats a perfect description of Perk right there. Height means nothing on the court because you don't rebound with your head (most players lie about their heights anyways). Reach on the other hand is very important and Perk is pretty close to Yao in that category.

Yep.....Perk's standing reach is only 2 1/2 inches less than Wilt's, so Perk is big enough no matter what size he is listed.

Al Jefferson is taller than Perkins and he was listed at 6'9'', initially. Now he's listed at 6'10''. It could be the sneakers each of these players are wearing like orthopedic shoes.

Al Jefferson's pre-draft measurement was 6' 8.25 inches w/o shoes.
LeBron James was 6' 7.25 inches w/o shoes.
Posey was 6' 7" w/o shoes.
Pierce was 6' 6" w/o shoes.
Perk skipped pre-draft camp. Maybe he had a deal in place to be taken in the first round.
By the way, Kevin Garnett's pre-draft camp measurement was
6' 10.5 inches w/o shoes at age 19. Now he says he's a bit over 6' 11".
PJ Brown was 6' 10" at pre-draft camp.
Rasheed Wallace was 6' 9.75 inches w/o shoes.
Antonio McDyess was 6' 9.5 inches w/o shoes at pre-draft camp.
I think that the idea behind stretching Perk out to his height with shoes,
rounded up, is to make Leon Powe and Glen Davis bigger than they really are.

I remember Brad Daughtery. He was 6'9" when he first joined UNC. He ended up 7'1" in nba.

there is no doubt in my mind that kg is a 7 footer
i don;t blame him for not wanting to be labled a 7 footer though

Who cares, honestly? The guy is tall and wide enough to guard most any center in the NBA, except agile 7+ footers like Yao, Z, or Gasol. And we have PJ and KG to take on those guys. That's all I care about.
Perk is what, 24? He'll never remind anyone of McHale or Parish down low offensively, but I think he can still develop a few decent post moves. If Branden Haywood can, anybody can with enough time, and Perk has all the time in the world with so much experience at such a young age.

Why doesnt he want to be labeled as a seven footer?

Why doesnt he want to be labeled as a seven footer?
Because he doesn't want to play center. He started off as a 6'11", 220lbs. small forward and eventually he gained some weight and let his game evolve to become a power forward. He sometimes says he is 6'13".
I think he's 7' and 253 lbs.

^^Bill Walton also balked at being labeled a 7-footer, always insisting he's 6'11". However, if you look at the 1985-86 team photo, he is CLEARLY taller than Parish, who was ALWAYS listed as 7' 1/2"
With Walton, it was more of a psychological problem he had with it. He's been quoted as saying people view 7-footers as freaks, which is why he always insists he's 6'11". Weird
KG is definitely 7-feet tall, though!

That's why I've heard a lot of basketball players, aside from Bill Walton, claim to be shorter than they are.
Weird, maybe, but unless you're 7'0", it's tough to understand how they're viewed. Hell, I'm only 6'2", and people tell me I'm abnormally tall...

and it's still tough enough to buy clothes. Can't imagine being 7'0".

^^I know...I'm 6'5" and it's a royal pain.
Although when you're as rich as they are, you can get everything custom-made.
Still, KG is a legit 7-feet and Perk is no way 6'11". I'd believe 6'9", which is what I always thought he was.

i think he's 6'10" like he's been since he's a rookie.
If Perk is 6'9" baby is at least 6'6"

I'd said before that I believe that Davis is slightly taller than Powe who I think is 6'7'' with Davis being 6'7'' 1/2. I mean one thing that was said consistently throughout the regular season of Davis by broadcasters of other teams is that he isn't 6'9''. He definitely has size but isn't the height he's listed. While Powe looks like he's an inch taller than Pierce who was listed as 6'7'', 6'6'' and now back to 6'7''.
