Pistons are overrated

I find it hilarious how the ABC announcers praise the "poise" of the Pistons after we come out super hot at the start of the 3rd quarter.....
....well it's fracking easy to be "poise" when the Pistons respond to our hot run by nailing 3 straight 3 pointers.
If the Pistons MISSED those 3 straight 3 pointers....they'd all be saying the same crap like "why didn't they go to the hoop?" or "why are they being sissies and taking outside jumpshots?"
"live by the 3.....die by the 3"
They lived tonight and we died.....but remember they only went to the lines 7 more times than we did (2 came at the end with 1.7 seconds left) and we...yes I said WE...sent them to the line by our own dumb hands.
The Pistons did not earn many of their trips to the line tonight.....blame ourselves for the loss tonight.
We lost....the Pistons did not win.

Sorry man but the celtics look way more overrated than the pistons do. This post just invites pistons trolls and the whole thing wreaks of sour grapes.
Pistons played a better game on both ends of the floor and deserved to win. Bottom line.

Pistons didn't even play basketball against us....we sent them to the line...they were playing 21 for 40% of the game.

Which announcer, specifically, do you think would come up with a classy gem like this one?

It's starting to sound like a broken record.
Orlando said they were better than us even AFTER we eliminated them.
Teams that go to 6 straight ECF are not overrated. I hope you learn this someday.

The "we lost, they didn't win" tagline always happens against:
1) Teams with no superstars
and
2) Teams that play good fundamental (as in, positional) defense
There's really only one team in the NBA that plays great D without an acknowledged superstar, and that team, Detroit, hears that crappy tagline in every playoff series beyond the first round every single year.
No biggie, we're used to it.

We went to game 7 with two teams, each with less than 50 wins in a season.
The Pistons beat us on our home court.
They are not overrated. They looked every bit like the team that won 59 games this year. The playoffs is showing that maybe we're the ones that are a little overrated. And that stigma will stick until we win on the road and maybe close out a series in less than 7 games.
The refs weren't horrible in this one, not to the point of giving them the blame for the loss. The Celtics failed to stop dribble penetration and left too many open shots for players, and too many second-chance opportunities in key situations.
And it's not going to get easier. Doc might actually have to convince his players it's not okay to lose on the road now.

lol....why do you think they hit the 3 straight 3 pointers....they took our punches and punched back even harder
our defense was a joke last night, open shooters all over the floor

Those 3 pointers that they took were in adversity, good shots in the flow of the offense, etc.
Honestly, from your post, it looks like you just have no knowledge of what it means to play intelligent basketball.
The Pistons, if anything, are underrated. The reason they are so good is that there are some players who are better while surrounded by better players (KG) while there are others who are worse because they need to be the man (Ray Allen). The Pistons have 5 very good players who play better while surrounded by good players. Thats invaluable.
We're trying to beat these guys sheerly off of the fact that Paul Pierce is playing out of his mind, but right now it just seems like they have too much.

There's faulty logical IMO. You're assuming that no matter what the outcome is, the Pistons were going to attempt those three 3-pointers no matter what?
What if they missed the 1st one? Are they still going to attempt those last 2? What if they instead looked inside instead, and drew a foul against (for instance) Pierce? That would've changed the game also, and a completely different outcome.

I don't think you can say either team is overrated, both of these teams are beasts. We all knew it was going to be a dogfight, these are the two best teams in the league in my mind. Either team won't be overrated or underrated.

Oh I forget to mention that one of those three straight 3's that the Pistons made...KG picked Rondo to free up Billups......
With our constant dumb fouling and slow rotational defense we basically spoon fed that win to the Pistons.
We gift wrapped that win to them on that botched inbound play.
I stand by my opinion that the Pistons are overrated.
So what if they made it to 6 straight ECF....that just means the rest of the East kept sucking and had to change....the Pistons were lucky enough to be stable and solid, thus no need to change or overhaul their roster.

dont be saying that nonsense that we beat ourselves. i dont want say either. we didnt beat ourselves. det was the better executing team that night. that's it. no excuses. let's move on to game 3, just compete hard, have fun, show them we're the better executing team on the road and come back to boston at least 2-2.

Sorry to burst that excuse but nobody botched nothing. The play was designed that way, it was a double screen designed to open up two players (one to the basket, one out at the 3 point line) and force the PF (KG) to choose one of them.
Rip set screen #1 on Billups' defender, Sheed set screen #2 up high for the next defender, RIp jumped back, KG had to choose to go after Rip or Billups. Pistons didnt luck into anything, it all went according to plan (though i'm shocked as anyone that Flip actually drew up a good inbounds play)

The Pistons are a VERY good team. Not quite a great team, in large part I think due to the fact that they don't have a great one on one scorer.
The Celtics are also a Very Good team, not quite the great team I had thought/hoped they were.

I like the Pistons to be honest; they are good because of great teamwork from a core that has played together for a while. I still hope they lose to the Celtics, just so that KG, Ray, and Pierce can finally be rewarded after so many years, especially versus the Lakers! The Pistons will still be back for a few more years.
