Gamblers Alert: Jon Berry

Post#1 » by Cyclical » Sun May 25, 2008 6:15 am

JB's game 1 prediction: DET win
Outcome: BOS win

JB's game 2 prediction: BOS win
Outcome: DET win

JB's game 3 prediction: DET win
Outcome: BOS win

JB's Pre series prediction: DET win
JB's other genius prediction: whoever wins game 2 wins the series.

Jon's a great guide - always place your bets on the other team kids.

Side note: if Breen uses the word "shocking" one more time... This is the Boston ****ing Celtics, not the Memphis Grizzlies. Nothing shocking here. Just taking care of business.

Ha, very nice. I hope House plays so I can hear Breen say everytime he touches the ball that he isn't known for being a good ball handler.

I could have swore JB agreed with Wilbon about Detroit winning tonight.

Does anyone know what Breen's issue with the C's is? He seems to favor whatever team we are opposing. Also in game 3 he seemed to jump the gun when Posey fouled a Detroit player on a fastbreak acting as if it were a vicious hit and expecting a flagrant when all Posey did was prevent the layup by wrapping the guy. He seems so bias.

Nevermind I found my answer on Wikipedia. He's a New Yorker and works for the Knickerbockers.

Haha the ESPN halftime analysts are atrocious. Mike Wilbon said that Ray Allen was clearly the second best player on our team this season, with Pierce being the third best.

Wilbon is a bald 50-year old. And what is Barry's prediction for Game 4? Detroit?

Wilbon just refuses to admit he was wrong, that's all. He and Kornheiser on PTI early in the NBA season said they didn't think Pierce was a great player. Now that he's really had to watch Paul play, he has egg on his face now. Everyone, including him, knows Pierce is better.

ABC/ESPN has been a real mixed bag. Jackson and Van Gundy carry that crew.

One game I want to keep a tally of how many times Mark Jackson says "take it to the cup"... I like him as a commentator, but that annoys me after the 5th/6th/7th time.

My prediction is Barry will pick the Pistons in Game 4. He is such a tool.

How funny was it when JVG said "who took the SAT's for you, Mark Jackson???"

I always feel like Jon Barry has some evil jinx in mind from the Celtics, stemming from the same motivation that made him hold out and get traded for Alaa Abdelnaby.

Whatever happened to Abdelnaby, I remember I thought he was good when I was 11 years old.

Jackson sucks IMO, but Van Gundy might be the best national commentator in all sports.

Momma, there goes that man....

Stew is one of my favorites on sportscenter, but he tries too hard or something doing halftime and I like Wilbon on PTI, but its pretty obviously that he just started watching basketball the last few games.

Jon Barry actually has a pro-Celtics bias, if you have watched him all season.

He picked the C's to win Game 6 in Cleveland. And the only reason he picked Detroit in Game 1 was because they were better rested.

And I think Breen's totally fair. It was shocking to see the C's up 24 in the Palace. Come on, don't be so sensitive.

Breen makes more mistakes than any announcer I've ever heard. He says at least 5 stupid things per game that if you're paying attention will have you wanting to press the mute button. Plus his play by play is always wrong. "Rasheed tips it out of bounds, and it's going to be Detroit ball..."
I'm pissed that the west gets Marv and we're stuck with breen. (I do enjoy van gundy's quips though.)

It looks like Breen and Marv switch on and off from year to year on who covers which series.

I haven't laughed as hard in a long time as when JVG asked Mark Jackson who took his SAT's for him.

Return to Boston Celtics
