I'm sure some of you guys had to have seen Ryan Gomes with Tommy, Donny, and Gary before the game. He gave some great insight and really seems like a genuine good guy.

Now why I'm posting this is, why would a guy who plays for another team be on the Celtics pregame show. I understand that he lives in Connecticut and used to be a Celtic, but honestly I just get the feeling that Danny can't wait to resign him. Ryan is one of those guys who I think we could get with the Mid-Level exception that would be better for this team than either Powe or Baby. He knows the offense and is a good rebounder.

Anyone else get this feeling, or am I alone in thinking that he's almost a lock to be back in a Celtics uniform next year?

If we have a similar team next year that we have this year, he could be a good fit, because an offensively-gifted forward off the bench could have some value to us. We don't have a good bench forward that could shoot the mid-ranger like Gomes.

My guess is that we're going to see more Gabe Pruitt next year, too. Another shooter off the bench.

I have seen this done before. A lot of networks do it all the time. NESN used to have TE Christian Fauria talk about the Patriots playoffs when he was still playing for the redskins. It's different though because, in this case, gomes is young, and your right, ainge might want to have him back.

I would love to see Ryan back, hometown, all that, he is a good player and a good guy. I was ecstatic when he dropped to 50 to us.

...Ryan would play primarily at the 3, not the 4....with Tony Allen looking terrible most of the year i'd imagine that Boston will put an offer out for Gomes with the expectation of him being a scorer off the bench...Pruitt will get a shot at the 2/1...but i'd expect a veteran to be kept...

The situation with Posey will really determine alot...Posey can opt out and may very well do so based on how well he's played...Posey will probably be looking for an extention this year...

Considering how Doc uses players, I think he'd use him for both forward positions, depending on the situation. I know he saw him as a 3 primarily, but he still played both positions for the most part. Either way, I'd see him as a plus on the floor from an offensive standpoint.

Adding Gomes would be great. But honestly, it would only happen if Powe or Posey left, and as I don't see Posey leaving, I'm almost sure we'll pack Powe with the #30 pick for a lottery pick to select Randolph/Jordan.

We could go small with Davis at C, Gomes at PF and Posey at SF, or really big with the lottery pick at C, Davis at PF, Gomes at SF and Posey at SG.

Given the choice with the MLE, I'd much rather have Posey than Gomes. One word: defense.

Randolph and Jordan will go in top 10, IMO. They have the most upside out of the top 3. I don`t see how we can move into lottery with just #30+Powe. IMO, Leon doesn`t have that much value...

I absolutely think Gomes is in Ainge's plans. Posey is a 4 as well as a 3, and I could see him coexisting with Gomes.

As far as moving up into the lottery, as much as I love Ray as a person, one deal I'd look long and hard at would be Ray and/or #30 and/or a Davis or Powe to the Knicks (who have talked about trying to clear salary by packaging their #6) for Curry or Randolph, and/or Richardson and the 6. Draft Jordan, and give Curry a year to play with Garnett and battle Perk for minutes, and see if we can't turn another malcontent into a productive Celtic, a la Robert Parish, Dennis Johnson or Bill Walton.

Ray kind of reminds me of Glen Rice on the 2000 Lakers. Great player, great shooter, but it just seems to be a challenge getting him going in this offense. Especially if we win it all, and make this season one big happy story, I'd then take the first steps toward setting us up for the future by adding some younger players (Gomes, the pick, Curry and/or Richardson) to surround Pierce, Garnett and Rondo.

We'd be:

Perkins/Curry/Jordan
Garnett/Posey/Davis
Pierce/Gomes
Richardson/T. Allen
Rondo/House/Pruitt


Contending, building around Rondo/Jordan, and letting the Knicks make a run at LeBron/Wade/Bosh in 2010. Everyone wins.

We could just trade #30 + Powe + Tony to Milwaukee for #8 and some player, and grab Jordan.

There is no way that we trade Ray Allen to the NY Knicks for a pick ,Q. Rich(fat) and Curry(fatter.)

I would be extremely surprised if the T-Wolves don't resign Gomes to a long term deal. He is currently their second best forward and Brewer has looked like he has a long way to go.

If they draft Mayo(like they should), we can probably sign Telfair though.

Powe is 6'6" tall and probably couldn't even be traded for the 29th pick in the draft, much less for the 8th pick of the draft along with 30.

It's truely remarkable how little of a grasp some people have on trades in the NBA.

i would love to see gomes back in green

he would have to improve his defense though
i don;t remember him as a particulary "good' defender
i have no doubts he would fit in and play defense though

Have you actually seen Jordan play? Do you actually like him. I've seen him only once, and he didn't look good. He even lost his starting job in the Tourny.

If you've seen Jordan play, can you tell me what you liked about his game? I really don't like to judge someone by watching him only once or twice. I don't know too much about his game. But how good can he be if he lost his starting job in college and is expected to go top 10?

If we let TA go, we might sign Ryan Gomes. I'm hoping for that.

though corey brewer isn't a finished product, the fact that be belongs in the league is undeniable. his worst case is trenton hassel and his best case is latrell spreewell.

i think theyd lose gomes in favor of developping him. wing players are easy to come by. plus, they arent playing for anything important for the next season or two. the western conference is pretty damn tough.

Or even if he does.

If Posey opts out, he has two possibilities:

A long-term MLE deal.
A one-year deal, at a raise over what he would have gotten under his option, with another one-year player option (insurance policy).

I imagine he'd prefer the first, but if the team was using the MLE well he might settle for the second, also attractive possibility.
