Rasheed Wallace
Chauncey Billups is taking a beating on the Piston's board. Undeservingly so in my opinion. It seems pretty obvious he is hurt. To me, however, the true Piston that has to take a load of the blame is Rasheed Wallace. Look at his numbers.
Game 1: 11 pts 5 rbs
Game 2: 13 pts 10 rbs
Game 3: 12 pts 8 rbs
8-10 free-throw attempts in the series. 0 Ft attempts in game 3.
This from a guy that could be one of the BEST in the league if his head in on straight. Thank God it isn't and he's a coo-coo.
This also demonstrates his unwillingless to get his butt in the low post and create contact. If I was a Piston fan, this is the guy I'm calling out. He seems so disinterested.
NOW on a positive note for us Celtics fans, if Rasheed does straighten out his act, an effective Wallace is an emotional Wallace. Rasheed has 5 technical fouls in these playoffs.... 2 more and he has to sit out a game.
He has shown in the past that he doesn't always think things thru, and if he gets emotional he will, more than likely, pick up a couple T's and hurt his team.
LET'S GO CELTICS!!!!!!

yeah, i too am glad he hasnt demanded the ball for a long period of time in any game. when he's in the low post on the baseline, he's jus as unstoppable as KG is when they have it in their mind that they are going to score no matter what. their both beasts. idk whats wrong with rasheed tho, his 3's havent been falling like normal either....BUT, lets hope that continues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO CELTICS

He is extremely dangerous if his 3 point shot is falling. If it is not he can be contained.
And we can`t forget that KG is guarding him! That has a lot to do with his (in)effectiveness!
But I actually think he is playing OK. Maybe a three pointer or two per game more but I didn`t really expect more from him. That is Rasheed...

Definitely no, if he decides to play, he's the best PF in the L with KG.
I wouldnt go that far but if he is motivated he can be a very very good player. I think this is a reason DET hasnt made it past the ECF in a few years, ever since they won a ring the other team just looks more motivated

More proof that he's overrated right there.ermocrate wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Rasheed is a good player and very talented, but he's nowhere near the player KG is whether he's trying or not trying. I believe Barkley also called him the most talented player in the league and said he'd be the best if he had to desire to be: more overrating right there. 'Sheed is talented, but there are several players quite a bit more talented than him. Kobe, LeBron, KG, Chris Paul for starters...
And last time I checked, effort level is part of the game as well. Just because he doesn't try a lot of the time, settles for 3 point shot after 3 point shot and hangs on the perimeter doesn't make him any less overrated. If anything, it's a big reason why he is overrated. People always point to how very good he'd be if he'd just play in the post, try all the time but the bottom line is he does NOT do those things.
I always hear what a great defender he is, but I sure as hell haven't seen great defense from him. Now, I don't watch a ton of (non-Celtics) Pistons games so the majority of the time that I'm watching him, he's getting dominated by KG and that's not uncommon in the NBA so maybe I underrate his defense-- but with how badly KG owns him and the fact that he is a lazy player leads me to believe that he also doesn't always try defensively either and is probably overrated defensively too.
Good player with the potential to be better, but everything I've seen suggests Rasheed Wallace is hardly anything special.

I see a player's talent for what he does on the field, he can score from the post, he can score from the outside, he can dribble his opponent, he can defend(he has defended Shaq and TD in their prime down low), it's only that he lost his head and often plays lazy... When he decides to play he's on par with KG on my opinion, he has never decided to play for a full season so we don't know if He's capable doing that and not willing or if he's not capable doing that... That doesn't mean he's the best, to be the best you've to be willing to dominate and he's not, I was talking talent wise...

the pistons offense should absolutely run through rasheed at around foul line extended. the problem is, the pistons dont give him the ball enough for him to be omnipresent like kg is. rasheed often dissapears in games because detroit wont involve him as much as they should.
when rasheed consistently gets the ball in scoring situations, he's a top 5 OFFENSIVE big man in the league.

how is he overrated?
he is as good as garnett, if not better
championship rings rasheed wallace: 1
championship rings kevin garnett: 0
You my friend are a fool, I think most C's fans on this board underrate him, but you clearly overrate him.
He's damn good when he wants to be but he doesnt have 1/10th of KG's intensity and KG's teammates feed off that and play inspired ball.
Rasheed is capable of putting up KG numbers on a good night but the big individual contribution is all you get from him. He can take over a game offensively sometimes, sure, but his intensity and team defense are not up there with KG.
Rasheed has better range (3 pt) but I would rate KG better then him in basically everyother category, maybe there are more where his skills trumps KGs, but if you think so, throw them out there...

These #'s are identical to his averages over the last 2 years. I do not know if it is simply age catching up to him or him settling for outside jumpers.

Well said. Apart from the 3-point shooting, Garnett is better at every facet than Rasheed...and I think Rasheed is a damn good player.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

if the Celtics had never gotten Kevin Garnett and instead had gotten Rasheed
Wallace..would you be saying the same thing?..that KG is better than Sheed?
ur answer is purely homerish
i live in chicago and have never lived in portland or detroit so dont say im being a homer.
let's just see who wins this series
