Cassell again whining about playing time....

This guy needs to keep his mouth shut and be more professional---the way Eddie House was...also I think articles like this are irresponsible in the middle of an important series....The Celtics haven't been this far in over 20 years, and we have our own reporters trying to stir things up.

I really don't like Cassell anymore. I definitely don't want him back nextyear.

where is he whining in this article?

it looks like he just said "it's weird to be sitting on the bench during these games. i've never had that happen to me and it's frustrating but it's ok too."

Since when does anybody but us internet nosepickers actually listen to what Sammy says? don't worry about it. We need him inspired to knock down shots if he ends up with some minutes.

I don't think he's bitching. Personally, I want guys that think they can go out ever time and light the place on fire. Would you rather pay for a guy who's content to just sit on the bench? Sam's confident in his ability and wants to play. That's nothing but good to me.

That being said, his play lately has earned him some time on the bench.

If you read the article, he is not complaining. He is frustrated and acknowledged that this role is new to him. I would rather have a player be honest than to give the party line. We as fans read far too much into this sort of stuff. I am sure the rest of the players already know his feelings, but realize Doc is calling the shots.

Sounds like whining to me. The Globe has a more full quote:

"This is my first year ever that I've sat out in the playoff games, didn't get no playing time for four games," he said. "That was the first time ever in my career. It bothers not just me, but everyone around, like, 'Why are you not playing?' I'm not disguising it, but it's just tough.

"I ain't going to lie, it was tougher because I knew I could play. I competed against these guys with my teammates, with other teams before in the playoffs, and had a lot of success. But me getting here late in the year, who knows?"

Again, I'd rather be paying a guy who wants to play and thinks he can tear the roof off the place every night than some guy who's content to sit on the bench and collect his check.

Give me a break. Dudes just coming out and being honest, and narrating what's it's like to be the man one day, than ride the bench the next. He qualified his statements by saying he understood it. Let's not overreact fellas ...

Just look who wrote the article, Tony Maz. If he's not ballwashing the Red Sox, then he's bagging on the other Boston teams. The guy is a joke.

If it wouldn't make Cassell look so bad publicly, the Celtics should just cut Sam now -- but I guess the good news is this offseason they know exactly what type of player to go after for their backcourt, and who to forget about.

He should know that if he's missing 17 straight shots and Rondo and House are doing a better job, he is going to sit.

Cassell isn't like Rondo in that he can't really effect the game if he's not scoring.

What, it's Maz's fault Cassell came out and said these things?!

Scal has also started to complain:
Brian Scalabrine wrote:I just really feel like I could be helping the team if Doc would give me a few minutes. I look at on the floor and I see guys that I've played against before. That's right, I've played against the Pistons. I've probably even made a couple of shots in Detroit over my illustrious career. The Pistons don't really have any one who can match up against me..Who do they have on that team that has my chest size along with my basketball iq? There's very few players like me in the entire league.
