OK I'm gonna ask this question again
If we somehow lucked out and won this year's title, would you still fire Doc Rivers? I will in a heartbeat! I have been saying this ever since he came to boston. He is the worst in-game coach I've ever seen in my life!

I would can him ASAP. He is one of the worst coaches in the league when it comes to making adjustments. And he is about 3 mins too late on ALL of his timeout calls. He HAS to go.

No, he's definately not the worst in game coach in the league. That's just a product of whiney message boarders having too much time on their hands.
Did you ever notice that on every team board, with the exception of a select few with proven championship coaches, that team's coach is always the "worst in the league?" If you look at it objectively, Doc shouldn't be canned after this year.

You're kidding right? Doc has done a great job in the playoffs. He has come up with all the right answers. Take this game for instance. We have been struggling offensively on the road in the playoffs(with the exception of game 3), and Doc again made great adjustments.
We needed offense and Doc delivered. He brought in Cassell who is shooting about 12% now in road playoff games. He put in Posey and P.J. Brown, 2 players that are capable of huge scoring nights on any given night. He played Ray Allen nearly the entire game even when Ray struggled again. Doc did great.
What else do you guys want from Doc?

If you want an answer look at Terry Francona after his first world series. I would say yes but it will never happen

Not really Doc's fault that the bench can't step up. Posey can play defense, but can't score. Eddie House can score, but does his best impression of a bull fighter letting his man get by him with little to no effort. Tony Allen is useless right now. I agree, Ray needs to play less, but Doc really doesn't have a right answer at that position. PJ Brown was getting minutes, but someone has to step in when Perk gets into foul trouble.
Doc has his flaws, but not every loss is his fault.

LMAO @ the Doc haters.
They said the same things about Francoma. Before, you know, he won two championships.
There's a LOT more to coaching besides in-game adjustments. Just because it's the only thing internet message board hacks can see on TV, doesn't mean that's the only thing that's important. 95% of coaching is not done during the game. After the tip, it's mostly on the players.
I find it hysterical that people think Doc is a moron after Game 4's stinker, but Game 3? oh, Doc had absolutely nothing to do with that.

I find many of Doc's moves absolutely indefensible, and think he should have obviously been canned at the end of last year. But with that said, if the teams wins a chip, you have to keep him. There are two key reasons:
#1: When you attain the highest possible goal, you change things up as little as humanly possible. I mean, why make a change at that point....to try to win another title AND get 70 wins? There's always a chance that even a top-notch replacement could have some kind of personality conflict with one of the big three, have a style not conducive to our roster, etc. It's not worth it to take that chance if we know the team can win with Doc.
#2: On a more practical note, the market for coaches sucks right now. It's not like last year, when we could have canned Doc and brought in a grade-A proven winner like Adelman. Doc is not great by any means, but he's far from the worst coach in the NBA. As a result, you don't want to make a change just for the sake of making a change. Doc should only be canned when there is a top-notch replacement already lined up.
I can't believe I just drafted a post defending Doc, the guy who would still be playing Scal over Powe/Davis if he hadn't gotten hurt, the guy who thinks "rotation" is a dirty word, the guy has used 11 different players in the 1st quarter 3 times so far this post season (that I remember off the top of my head), the guy who thinks NHL strategies like using a checking unit and matching lines can be translated to the NBA. But whatever, the team is winning and "Phil Jackson is not walking through that door," so Doc should be our guy for now.

People keep saying that Tony Allen is useless. He wasn't useless for the first 82 games of the season, so how did this change come about? Is it from Doc not playing him?
We have a couple of other players on our team who have been useless as of late. Sam Cassell and Ray Allen, but they continue to get time and continue to fail to produce.

I just want to bang my freakin head on the freakin wall every time some "C's fan" says this. Tony brings energy, penetration, defense. He needs steady minutes until Ray shows up.
Did they watch any hoops this year?
