OT: Classless introductions from classless organizations....

Post#1 » by celtics792244 » Tue May 27, 2008 7:31 pm

Sorry that this is not about what is going on ON the court, but I am getting pretty #$%^-ing tired on how our competitors go about their pregame intros. Whether it be a knife cutting up our logo (Cavs) or some idiot on Detroit player breaking a backboard with our logo on it. We don't do any of that $@#*!

For goodness sake, we play mutha-bleeping Led Zep for our opposition!

We have too much class, but it makes one dream of playing NO music for our competitors, and to take it 1 step further, have Lucky squat down and take a dump in the path the players take to high five their teamates.

I would like to see a commercial play off Rasheed sitting on a chair saying, "we're back", when Detroit gets eliminated. And have that announcer in the background..."B-B-B-Buy this chair and T.V. at blah, blah, blah."

By the way, I would love to see the Celtics use the begining of Voodoo Child and merge it into something like Purple Haze for their intros next year.

this post makes me lol on diffrent levels.

"B-B-B Buy this chair" was classic though. I hope we never get an announcer like DET or ATL's though. That would be horrible.

You do understand this is all done to pump the crowd up which by doing so pumps the team up? Right?

I understand it is to pump up the crowd. However, you can pump up the crowd and not degrade your opposition at the same time. We do it!

And I changed my mind (at least for this series) for Detroit's introduction in Boston. Get rid of the Zep tune and replace it with this....

Pick somebody off the streets and give them a pail and some tin cans, have them dance like a jack!@#$$ hitting them with a pair of drumsticks. Thoughts?

Detroit's always been classless, although it doesn't piss me off any less...but, just look at their crime rates, and that's why I personally understand the putridness. That PA Announcer John Mason needs to be shot dead, GIVE THAT BALL TO DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETROITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!! THREE FOR CHAUNCEY B-B-B-B-B-BA-BOW-BEE-BU-BILLLLLLUPS!

You guys amaze me at what you are willing to bitch about. Oh no they blew up a backboard with the Celtics logo on it, oh heavens no! I personally enjoy watching the Detroit pregame intros! I enjoy John Mason.

Why don't you go cry about it?!

Last night their Announcer said something like: "You are about to meet some of the Greatest athletes in the world---but first, let's meet the visiting Boston Celtics"....That's pretty awful for any organization to do...have some class.

I think the intros are annoying, but I think saying they are classless is pretty silly. This is basketball. I certainly don't think anyone should be "shot dead" due to it. Talk about classless.

But MaxwellSmart, why take it so seriously. Obviously our team has some of the best athletes in the world as well. That is obvious.

"You are about to meet some of the Greatest athletes in the world---but first, let's meet the visiting Boston Celtics"

This actually makes me laugh. I thought it was clever. It is just showmanship.

no need for fancy announcing and intro montages to pull classless stuff, you guys have the fans.

detroit PA is very annoying, I'll agree on that.

 I remember when the Kings, when the Pistons were in town, were fined for showing pictures of Detroit during the 1967 riots.

One thing: the opposition should not get the opening bars of 'Kashmir' during their intro. That is just asking for trouble.

I think the song they play in the opposition intro is actually P Diddy's "Come with me" with Jimmy Page (which is just Kashmir with P Diddy saying yeah, cmon...etc). At my college's hockey games, we would actually use the same song as the intro for when our team skated out onto the ice. So I associate the song with being a let's get pumped thing, and it's weird to hear it for the pistons. Weren't we using the Imperial March from Star Wars earlier in the year?
