Shaunnessey laments that Garnett faded in the 4th qtr in game 4 and says we need someone like Cornbread Maxwell who will say " hop on my backs boys". Well if it's going to be anyone tonight that does that for us it will be Paul Pierce. he's the one who has demonstrated he can win a game by himself if necessary. If Paul can come out strong and get tayshaun in some foul trouble he can pretty much take whoever else detroit sticks on him. that's a matchup we need to win tonight. Garnett also needs to win his matchup. If we can do that and control detroit's backcourt we should be ok in this game.

Well Garnett is capable of this as well but as you said Pierce is prob the leading candidate to do it tonight. Ill be dissapointed in PP if he has a bad game tonight because all of Boston is counting on him and its his time to shine.

I don't think Pierce needs to step up, I think he needs to play very well with Garnett tonight.

Pierce is not Kobe,LeBron and he doesn't need to do everything.

What we need to do though is run the pick and roll with Pierce and KG and let their passes/decision making decide the game. Pierce is agressive enough to draw the fouls when it's opportune, and KG is good enough to make the amazing pass or hit the shot from the pop.

If this can lead to some Sheed fouls early that would be immense and no one on DET other then Sheed can properly defend a Pierce/KG pick and pop play.

What I would really like to see is KG shut down Mcknees since he's the one thats been killing us in the series.

Well KG is the more mobile defender. Also he is the defensive player of the year, so he has the best chance and Perk has been playing Sheed pretty good.

I like how Paul is playing. He steps up when he needs to - but isn't above letting other guys have their day in the sun. It's perfect Celtic basketball.
