C's are the WORST 4QT Team in NBA History (Not G5 Related)

Post#1 » by PPAW4Life » Thu May 29, 2008 3:49 am

This thread has nothing to do with Game 5, it has to do with our team's overall general offensive philosophy.

Because we play this "spread the wealth" or "unselfish" offense we have no closer or "go to guy" in the 4th Quarter.

We don't have one guy who wants to score when we need to score.

I think our players have been "programed" all regular season long to make that extra pass and right now in the playoffs, the "extra pass" is killing us.

And obviously, it is just my opinion that we are the WORST 4th Quarter team in NBA History....and why do I make that claim?

Because we are on the biggest stage in the NBA....the NBA Playoffs and if we falter in the 4th quarter to the Hawks, there is no comfort playing against a better team like the Pistons in a close game winding down in the 4th quarter.

Sure there are probably worse 4th quarter teams in the NBA, this very season, but none of them are worth mentioning since they didn't get this far....ECF far...like we did.

If we continue to play like the 4th quarter doesn't matter against better competition (Spurs/Lakers), we will pay for it dearly.

I think the Pistons are actually largely in the same boat, lacking a "go to guy."

We're far from the worst, in fact some 4th quarters we have played great. It's a blessing and a curse, since we have multiple players who are capable of stepping up.

Tonight obviously we were horrid this quarter, but I think it had more to do with us struggling against the Pistons trapping defense (Doc's fault for not preparing the team properly) rather than lacking a clear #1 option.

I don't know if there is any better competition for the Celtics than the Pistons.

Return to Boston Celtics
