How do you feel about the KG trade now.
I have been a wolves fan since there inceptions but have to root for KG, he has more class than anyone in the timberwolves organization. I have been following this board most of the year. Initialy after the KG trade I read a lot on this board how Boston didn't get a good deal for KG. Is this still the preception of the trade? Do you feel that Boston got the short end of the stick?
Also is there anyone that doesn't think that KG is the MVP on the team? I have seen almost all the playoff games this year and KG is well KG. His play is rock solid consistant. I would say this year seems like in the playoffs his scorring numbers seem higher and rebounds down a little but you know what your going to get from him every night.
Good luck Boston I hope you can pull it out I am rooting for you.

Ive been thrilled about this trade since the second Ive heard about it, I still get chills looking on the court and seeing KG in a Celtics uniform. Big Al is probably my favorite player in the league but with him you wouldnt have a shot at a championship for probably 3 more seasons if that, I LOVE THIS TRADE

The original trade for KG -- which included Big Al and the #5 -- didn't make a whole lot of sense, and at that point around 50% of Celts fans were against it (based upon polls done at boston.com and CB, among other places).
Once we got Allen, though, that all changed. It's been the Era of Good Feelings ever since.

I'll admit, I was not happy last summer when the trade went down. I thought it would have been better to take the trade package (without Big Al) and tried to get a big defensive minded center, ala Tyson Chandler or Marcus Camby. I just thought that Al could be our superstar for the next ten years, instead of trading for one who would be here at superstar level for three. It also didn't hurt that Big Al was my favorite player at the time.
With 20/20 vision though, this trade was obviously amazing for the Celtics. I still miss the thought of having Big Al down low through about 2017, but you can't argue with the results. I'm a Celtics fan first and this is the most excited I've been about this team. Being only 20 years old, the Celtics have been rebuilding, pretty much my whole life., so now that we're finally winning it's great. KG has led us to exactly where we've wanted to go, and for that it would have been worth trading ten Al Jefferson's. So yes, I have come full circle and now I realize that this trade was one of Danny's greatest works.

I liked the trade then, and I like it now.
Before we went for KG, people on this board were talking about trading for AI, Pau Gasol, etc. I didn't like any of those potential trades because on the uppermost upside a championship would not have resulted from any of them. But KG is special. He gives us a reasonable shot at fulfilling the goal.
On a side note, I can't believe that anybody would have thought at the time that we got the short end of the stick. And I LOVED Al Jefferson.

I really think it was just a handful against the trade. I dont see how anyone in their right mind really were against it. We gave away a large quantity, but not quality at all. I miss Al, but you have to give something up to get a player like KG. Keeping Rondo sealed the deal for me and I was thrilled.

The better question this morning is, how do you feel about that Ray Allen trade right now?
No Ray, no Garnett. But beyond that (and even taking his recent struggles into consideration), I'm OK with it because that draft just wasn't very good.
I'm ashamed to admit I liked the prospect of this team with Corey Brewer starting alongside Big Al and Rondo as our Great Young Core Of The Future. I bought into the hype surrounding Yi (still think he'll be great), liked Noah (but not as a #5 pick), and spent way too much time perusing NBADraft.net and DE.com. But I don't think you can say this team lost out on a bona-fide all-star for the next 10 years. Where would we be right now with Julian Wright (if you will) as our 3rd brightest prospect moving forward?
I liked Al while he was here, but for him maximize his effectiveness you eventually bottleneck the offense somewhat by going to him constantly. He's obviously talented, but it's hard to build a team around an offensive-minded post player. If Al's your PF, a faster PG like Rondo sees his game slowed down dramatically because you play most effectively in the half court as opposed to a more free-flowing offense. I'm not knocking Al, but it's tough to build around him compared to a better all-around player like Chris Bosh.

The Kevin Garnett trade is extremely depressing for all Celtic fans. Now we may just have to raise another championship banner to our already overcrowded celing. There's hardly any room up there as it is.
Plus this might lead to more retired numbers. We're running out of digits.
And we missed Secaucus this year! Dang, New Jersey's enchanting in the spring too.
