If we advance to the Finals, we WILL win a championship 100%

Post#1 » by DieselCeltic » Fri May 30, 2008 10:58 am

I think the Celtics know, the whole world knows if we do get to the finals we will win a championship and will get that 17th banner. We are currently playing the 2nd best team in the NBA. West is filled with superstars but teams lack defense. 2 best defensive teams are going at it now. Us and the Pistons.

Watched the game Lakers vs Spurs...both of them don't know what a REAL defense is. Lakers will be in shock if they face us or Detroit. The defense these two teams have has never been seen before.

Can we please stop with these "what if" pointless threads? I think there is a game tonight, no?

this has to be the dumbest thread ever made.

you never predict, it always blows up in your face. the Lakers have come back from 20 & 17 points down against the spurs (the defending champs). thats saying alot. we had a hard time getting past the hawks & lebrons while the lakers have coasted. the spurs swept the cavs last year while we went 7 against them this year.

did I mention we went 7 against the hawks ? :)

you think it will be a cake walk in the finals ? I have been watching the lakers and they got chemistry, predictions just bring bad luck.

just dont do it. its dumb!

The more people (the media) talk about us playing the Lakers, the more motivated Detroit will be to beat us. I think we can safely talk about it here, I don't think Sheed is reading the boards. If we lose, I don't think it's because we've "jinxed" them. Yes, we would look foolish, but so what.

Hopefully we survive and get to play them. If we do, I think the match-ups are really favorable for us. We would have a field day scoring on them, after playing two tough defensive teams. Radmonivic guarding Pierce? Come on. And Garnett would destroy Odom. Have fun tangling with the Beast, Gasol.

I'm really surprised that most people (non-Celtics fans) think the Lakers would beat us. I'll make the bold prediction that after these playoffs, looking back, we'll all think that the Cleveland series was the hardest. I'm really not scared if we play the Lakers; I'd much rather play them than Detroit.

With that said, let's win it tonight and destroy our bitter rivals.

its always better to be optimist than a pessimist. Many of you seem to be pessimists though.

hey, I think the celtics win tonight. thats my opinion but I am not gonna say they are going to. :)

I think with rip hurt, billups cant keep this up with his injury and the celtics motivation that I have a hard time not seeing them win.

but Ray Allen is key to winning. he shows up its gonna be hard for them to win. but this is detroit and I would never count them out at home.

god I hope its a celtics/lakers finals. man that would be sweet. no one wants detroit in the finals outside of detroit.

Nah just some people are actually realistic. The Pistons aren't done and the Lakers will be no easy task. Actually, I think they will be our toughest challenge if we advance.

Bad thread.

Exactly. Right now, like the team, I am only focused on game 6 tonight.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

That's a very bold statement from an anonymous message board poster. Although I'm sure you're going to back that by betting your bank account on the series. I mean, since it's a 100% lock, that should be easy money.

I don't understand why anyone would think Boston matches up well with LA. you're just naming one sided scenarios. Gasol can't handle KG, but he couldn't handle Timmy either, and the lakers survived. Vlad can't guard Pierce, but can anyone come close to guarding Kobe? Odom can't guard KG, but can anyone guard Odom (while paying attention to Kobe and Gasol)? Did I mention there was a guy named Kobe on LA? The Spurs gave up 90.xx points/game this season, Boston gave up 90.xx (slightly less) points this season. Kobe shot over 50% against the spurs. I'm not saying LA matches well against you, but I just can't see how anyone could think Boston has a big advantage in matchup. Not to mention I also think the LA bench is deeper than the Boston bench, and they are long and athletic, and you guys had trouble with that in Atlanta.

Season to date the celtics have the best point diff at +10~. Lakers have the 3rd best at +7~, including pre Gasol. In the playoffs, however, Lakers have the best point differential at +6~, you guys are 2nd best with +4~.

Let's look at the teams that Bos and LA have beat in the playoffs and their season to date point differentials. Cleveland (-0.35), Atlanta (-1.81), Det (+7.39). vs Den (+3.7), SA (+4.79), Utah (+6.87)...... your only real test so far has been Det.

I try not to get caught up on stats too much, but I think in your post you may be underestimating the lakers, they're no slouch and I really think they are the team to beat.

I think playing LA would be a lot harder than people think, the key would be winning one of the first two if we dont do that we might be done but we have to beat Detroit first.

We haven't won yet.... We can be confident. But we can't talk like we are already in the finals!
