I don't think I ever saw anything like the Pierce 3-pointer offensive foul before in my life. I was speechless when it happened. Way to steal Donaghy's thunder, Benito! This was one for the books. Glad we can laugh about it now.
Looking forward to the apology from the league tomorrow.

I don't think the league will apologize twice in the same week. I was surprised that they did in the first place. I think it was more do to Crawford being the guy that swallowed his whistle and had the issue with Duncan.

I was being sarcastic. Personally, I don't expect apologies for another decade or so.

I don't understand why people are bitching about this?
The Defender was already in the air so he has a right to come down, but the offensive player instead move laterally INTO him, Pierce completely initiated the contact, I'd understand if Pierce had done it before Prince was completely in the air but he didn't.
And it was a travel anyways.

Paul Pierce ALWAYS gets that call. I'm not saying he's "entitled" to it, but he bases his game on making that sort of play because 99.9% of the time he gets the call. To PULL THE RUG OUT FROM UNDERNEATH HIM in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and all of a sudden go the other way on that call is a really unfair time to do that. He moved laterally a bit, but so does EVERYONE ELSE in that situation. Bad call.

One of the ESPN announcers called it the Worst call in the History of the NBA Playoffs.

Yeah Wilbon said that. It was the wrong call especially at that point in the game. That cost us a possible 4 pts when we needed them.

That would be fine if the refs actually ever called it an offensive foul. Chauncey Billups must've done the pump fake/initiate contact move (including that And 1 against Posey in the 4th) 5 times last night and 20 times this series--not a single offensive foul call against him. Everyone initiates contact in the NBA and gets the call.
It was completely inconsistent with the way the game has been called for years and it was a bull call.

On another Bennet Salvatore note, did anyone else catch when the other ref was about to T-up Wallace and Salvatore came over and stopped him? It was when Wallace was ranting, right before Perk got T-ed for looking mean or something. Then to top it off with that ridiculous call, let's just say the stream of expletives that came from me made KG's mouth on game day sound like a church choir.

This must be the first game you've watched then, let me be the one to welcome you to watching NBA basketball.

Yeah, Wallace would of had to punch someone to get a tech, because the next one would have gotten him suspended. That sequence in which Bennet stopped the other ref just shows that they are conscientiously influencing the game (not calling the T to allow Wallace to play a game 7) instead of just calling them by the book. Wallace was cursing like crazy on the court when he got his 5th foul (camera caught him on the bench) and the refs also didn't T him up. Did Perk really say something that bad?

Pierce staying cool and focused though it was just great though....PP himself mentioned that in his younger days he would have blown up over the call.
Not this time though.

First of all, you do not have a right to come down if you are in mid-air. If you are in mid-air you cannot have defensive position, unless of course you can fly. The defender is in the offensive player's path w/o position. Hamilton is the one who is out of control.
More importantly, the fact remains that this is widely acknowledged as a defensive foul and that is the problem. If Bennett thinks that should be called on the offensive player, take it up with the rules committee. He cannot change a widely accepted rule, however, in Game 6 of the ECF. Especially, when Billups gets that call ten minutes later.
All the great players to it to score: Kobe, Wade, TMac, LeBron, Pierce, and oh yeah, Jordan.
I will concede he did shuffle his feet a bit though.
