Kobe Bryant, eFG%:

Jumpers = 45.7%
In the Paint = 63.7%

Simple as that (thanks to 82games.com!). Keep Kobe out of the paint and let him take jumpers. He is better than Lebron (40% eFG jumpshooter) but not exactly Steve Kerr out there from deep. Let him try to beat you from the perimeter, box out, and run on those Lakers!

We did this to Lebron by switching and fronting and clogging the lane. I expect more of the same. Pau is similar to Z in that he can hit the outside shot, but like Kobe, I'd much rather have him shooting jumpers than taking it to the paint. If we let those guys settle for 16-23 footers, I LOVE our odds.

If we control the paint on both ends, we win, simple as that.

You can read all the damn articles you want bottom line was that was then and these Finals on Thursday is NOW.

Your assistant coach isn't going to be on the floor sorry no playing defense Ray Allen will be or who ever the hell they want Kobe to obliterate will his victim.

You guys keep comparing Kobe to LeBron well fact of the matter is their two different players. Kobe has a heart of an assassin while LeBron is tough he won't kill at all cost.

So hold on to your stats, articles, percentages and what ever else comforts you because come Thursday the Assassination of the Celtics will begin.

Okay, here's relevant basketball talk: when the Lakers are playing the brand of basketball where Kobe 'goes off' but doesn't make any plays for his teammates, they are not as good. In fact, that RealGM article above says they are 38% better when he is NOT chucking up tons of shots. Like Lebron, I'd rather have him be the only one killing us, let him score, and shut down the other 4 guys on the court.

There's no way to shut down Kobe. Playing him off and letting him shoot jumpers is not the clear solution. He is a much better jumpshooter than Lebron, although he can get streaky (hot or cold). This is simply the solution that the C's came up with during the regular season and it worked. In a 7-game series you have to do many different things and throw many different defenders at him, and I have no doubt Thibodeau will do that. Not all will work and a few may fail miserably, but given our defensive track record all year, I feel confident we will make enough stops to be able to win 4 games.

I'd say the outcome of the two previous meetings between the teams is pretty relevant.

Kobe is 'da bomb!!!

Kobe blah, blah, blah......

I am doing wonderfully, thank you.

Just fighting absurdity by being absurd. If fakers feel the need to come here and talk smack, you've got to come here and back it up with something other than Kobe is rreeaalllllyy ggoooodd.

Don't know if the flaming is over or not...

Anyway, back to OP.

You stop Kobe by not stopping Kobe.

If you double team Kobe, Gasol beats you with his ability in the middle.

So you don't double-team Kobe, and play the other 4 guys straight up.

Kobe scores 35+, but you win, because you score 95+ points.

L.A. needs big points from more people than Kobe to win this series.

Let's see how L.A. does with very few double teams on Kobe, and Perk putting a body on Gasol all night long.

Yep, just like LeBron shot something like 20% in the first two games, we can do the same to Kobe to a degree by making him take outside shots. Kobe's better at it than LeBron, but he doesn't have the team defense to back him up that LeBron had.

Are you really that stupid? Look.at.the.article! All it states is that when Kobe shoots MORE the Lakers chances of winning DIMINISH. It's a statistical analysis of the amount of shots he's taken in games, and numbers don't lie sir. There's a direct correlation between the his number of shots, and the team's winning percentage. It's as simple as that. And by using a logic (and stats), one can discern that the way to "Beat LA!" is to make Kobe a volume shooter.

Okay? Was that a good enough breakdown for you?
