The stats don't show it, but PJ was amazing tonight in Game 1. Especially on the defensive end. Really stepped it up in place of Perk. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Who would have thought PJ would be 10 times more important to us, then cassell. Not me.
Let's hear it for PJ!!!!

Yea PJ has been huge for us and I definitely felt Cassell was the much bigger addition, although I was pleased to hear we added PJ. Hes a good defender and pulls down some big rebounds in traffic and can also knock down that 15 footer when needed. But the thing I like about him most is he definitely plays like a veteran and almost always makes the right play...I never find myself upset with him. Great addition Danny.

How amazing must he feel right now? Just what a story this could be. The guy was such a lunch pail ball player his whole career, paid well for it but that is what made him so special. Other guys like him, once they got paid the felt like they had to do more than rebound and play defense and PJ never lost what made him special.
I know it is just game one but I am just so thrilled for the guy it is just a story book.

I just love how he doesn't seem to even reach for a rebound just stands in the exact right spot with everyone jumping and reaching all around him. Powe, Baby, and Perk should have to live with him this summer and wash his cars and do his laundry so they can learn his secrets.

Excellent point!
Actually, none of them are leapers, so they're all position rebounders. But he's a master at it.
In particular, he seems to have Walker-like quick hands to go with his Walker-like leaping ability.
Fortunately -- for the most part -- the rest of his game isn't Walker-like at all.

Another solid game for the vet.
I must say Cassell stepped up too.

I love PJ! He's a guy I used to hate when he played against the Cs because he killed them with his toughness and grit. Now that he's wearing the green and white, I love him for the same reasons!!!
Get yer first ring, PJ!

Props to PJ. I definitely blasted him at the beginning of his time here. He has definitely proven me wrong.

PJ works really well on Gasol, perfect match up.
He is the perfect 'vet pick up'.
Mad props

If only the officials will stop automatically calling him for blocking fouls, he could really have an impact. The one on Odom in the second quarter was ridiculous. The one in the fourth quarter was probably a block, but I've seen that called a charge a lot. The offensive player is a little out of control and the side step from the defender was very slight.
It happens to Leon Powe too. He gets called for blocks every time - no matter how stationary he is.

Agreed. I actually thought the refs called the game fairly, outside of a few calls, and PJ's "charge" on Odom was one of them. But that's such a subjective call, no one is ever pleased with it.
However, PJ did get away with a pretty brutal shoving match against Luke Walton, who later got called for the foul against PJ, so I guess there was a balancing effect.
